Dance for Healing – open dance sessions

Submitted By: Christy@cosmichealingnw.com – Click to email about this post
This Sunday at Rising Hearts Studio, Dance for Healing Open Dance Session from 3-5 PM – come for 10 minutes or two hours.
This dance session is open to everyone! Come as you are, and allow the music to move you. When we are stressed or experiencing trauma, we often hold these things in our bodies, and movement is a wonderful way to release them. This is a non performative experience, meaning the only thing required is to allow the music to move your body in whatever way it wants to. Please don’t allow worry or fear of judgement to stop you. Those who are new to dancing or using movement in this way are especially welcome. Let’s face it, the last few years many of us have been in survival mode and probably don’t even realize how this is affecting us physically, emotionally and mentally. Let’s come together and help each other release stress and tension in a safe environment, while having fun. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Hope to see you there!!

Stay Safe without Running Water
WaSH – Water, Sanitation & Hygiene in a Disaster

EVCNB is currently offering a comprehensive 3-hour class covering water, sanitation and hygiene, in which you will obtain the know-how and equipment to get your household prepared to properly manage your WaSH needs.
Register for a class using the EVCNB website. Scroll to View All Trainings & Events
and select a date to attend – Feb. 25, March 25, or April 29.
More dates will be scheduled in the future.

Emergency situations happen in our coastal region – power outages, flooding, storms, wild fires, and possibly an earthquake/tsunami. How will you obtain safe water for drinking, cooking, and washing and dispose of human waste during these times? Be prepared, not scared!

Water: In times of emergency, you will need to provide your household with the water needed for survival. Learn the basics of SAFE water storage. Learn how to effectively filter and treat water from in-home and local sources.

Sanitation & Toilets: You will need a process and equipment to safely manage your household’s human and pet waste to avoid the spread of disease. While this may not be the most exciting of subjects, it is an essential one if we are to keep our community safe from unnecessary health risks following a disaster.

Hygiene: Hygiene is always important to protect against the spread of disease, but it becomes even more critical when our access to medical resources is severely limited or cut-off. The absence of running water definitely makes effective hand washing and wound care more challenging.
