Dear Cast, Crew, and Community,

I am overjoyed to share our remarkable success with THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG.

Together, we have set new records, including the biggest opening night ever and becoming the first show to have all nine performances in a row with an attendance of over 100.

Additionally, we closed our run with a near-sell-out crowd, an extraordinary accomplishment that speaks volumes about our collective efforts.

To the cast and crew, your talent, dedication, and hard work have been inspiring. Every performance was a testament to your skill and commitment, and the energy and passion you brought to the stage were palpable.

To our coastal community, your unwavering support and enthusiasm have been integral to our success. Your laughter, applause, and presence made every show special and memorable.

Thank you all for making THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG an unforgettable journey. Here’s to many more successes together!

With deepest gratitude,

Frank Squillo

THANK YOU WHEELER!

The 16th annual Wheeler Clean-up Day on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Waterfront Park was an OUTSTANDING SUCCESS! Two 30-cubic-yard dumpsters were filled to the brim with old wood, broken furniture, odds and ends, and so much more! One 40-cubic-yard dumpster was packed tight with metal items for recycling! And one trailer was stacked high with paint containers! Wow! This town feels brighter and tidier today!

This is a community event and our great community members willingly turned out! Thanks to everyone who brought items or who asked to have items picked up, who patiently waited to be helped, who lent a hand, and for all the smiles and “thank you” comments you voiced to the enthusiastic volunteers!

Volunteers are the heart and soul of this event! Without these fabulous people, this event could not happen. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes to:

Mike A, Brad F, Craig S, Anthony P, Anna St J, Anne M and Cynthia S. Ron S, from our City Public Works, worked all day to lend a hand — thank you, Ron!

Patrick Willison of Sight Unseen Shredding in Tillamook joined us for a second year! Thank you, Patrick!

And, a very special thanks goes to Jessi Just and her winning team of volunteers from the Heart of Cartm Swap Shop who collected items for resale, reuse or to be re-imagined! This event would not be as successful or as fun without your presence and mentoring!

With gratitude to all,
Mary Leverette, Coordinator

Joshua is a must see for anyone who loves the American troubadour songwriter style.

With a sense for both storytelling and poetics Joshua Lowe has been dubbed “his generations Woody Guthrie, a great teller of tales,” by the infamous, Cookie Marenco, of Blue Coast Records.

Lowe’s sound is steeped in American music as he has a deep appreciation for roots traditions. Growing up listening to Hank Williams, Robert Johnson, Flatt and Scruggs, Woody Guthrie, early jazz, ragtime, field hollers and gospel.

Lowe keeps with the American roots tradition and takes the lo-fi, less-is-more approach to playing. “There’s beauty in simplicity. I like the rawness of just acoustic guitar and voice. I consider that a sacred part of music.”

A Tribute Party for Jeff Yurka

Submitted By: k.r.yurka@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Our dear Jeff died peacefully and as he wanted on April 27. His instructions were:
1. I don’t want anyone to be sad.
2. I don’t want a service or memorial.
3. I want you to have a party, tell jokes & stories, and have fun.

Unfortunately, #1 is out – we can’t tell anyone how to feel or to feel differently. But we can have a party!

If you knew Jeff and want to raise a glass to his memory, join us at the Pine Grove Hall on June 22, 1-4 pm. That would have been his 75th birthday – a fine day to have a party!

Please rsvp to laurayurka@gmail.com – we need an accurate head count to ensure we have enough of Jeff’s favorite snacks and beverages for everyone.
