United Paws’ Kittens of the Week

Submitted By: unitedpawshelp@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Meet ELI & Primo!!! Ready to Adopt!!!
If you are looking for the ideal kitten, look no further. Eli checks all the boxes! He adores being cuddled and petted, and purrs the instant you touch him. And on top of that, he is a handsome boy with the sleekest fur imaginable. Looks even better than Bond in a tuxedo!
Eli greets new people with no fear, immediately in his friendly mode! He likes to “hunt” mice on a stick and springs like a panther when he chases them. Gets along great with other cats and would probably do well with friendly dogs and older children.
Eli was rescued as a baby with badly injured back legs, but he is as good as new now! United Paws would love to see Eli be adopted into a family with other kittens & cats. Ideally, with his buddy Primo, described below.
Primo is one handsome, affectionate fella! He has a gorgeous, ticked tabby coat with elegant white tuxedo markings. He is very precocious and intelligent, always first to explore something new. That’s how he got his name! He is always the “first” of his “tabby palooza” litter of 5 to do everything. He was the first to try something besides Mama’s milk, first to eat solid food, and first to use the litter box.
When Primo is not off adventuring, he loves being cuddled and petted, and he gives freely of his plentiful affection. He is energetic and absolutely loves wrestling with his litter mates and especially his good buddy Eli. Primo makes friends with other kitties quickly and would get along fine with friendly dogs if introduced in the proper manner. He would love to go to his new forever home with his buddy Eli.
Both kittens are neutered, vaccinated, and healthy, ready for their forever family. Contact United Paws through our web site, www.unitedpaws.wordpress.com or call 503-842-5663.

Come By the EVCNB Tent at the Manzanita Farmers Market, Friday, August 16

Submitted By: info@evcnb.org – Click to email about this post
evcnb.org/events-and-training/farmers-market-2024
Here’s what the Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehalem Bay (EVCNB) will be up to at the Manzanita Farmers Market this Friday, August 16th.

Our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be onsite, at The Manzanita Farmers Market, early to start erecting our tent. This is also considered a training activity. It remains critical that as many people as possible be familiar with the tent set up process. These tents are being utilized by local governments and EVCNB as a means to shelter large numbers of displaced people following any disaster.

Inside the tent will be team leads and representatives from all of our preparedness and response programs. Learn more about the CERT program and how you can contribute. Our Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WaSH) team will have equipment to show. WaSH classes are scheduled for the upcoming months, so take a chance to find out how this can benefit you and your family.

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and shelter teams can inform you of our local resources should we need to call on them. The communications team will have their innovative Solar GoBox (SGB) on display. It gives us the ability to communicate when other sources like the internet and cell phones are not working. Learn more about how you can be trained to use an emergency radio “Yellow Radio” to get in touch with neighbors.

The Nehalem Bay Fire and Rescue Team will be in our same area. Team members and equipment will be there.

We encourage everyone to take the chance to stop by and learn how EVCNB can help you be prepared.

Can’t wait to see you all at the Manzanita Farmers Market!

NEW Eco prints at Manzanita News & Expresso by Artist Levering Thomas

Submitted By: lynnleveringthomas@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
New Eco Prints by artist Levering Thomas will be displayed at Manzanita News & Expresso tomorrow. These unique prints are created by a combination of tannins stored in the veins of local leaves, arranged on fine art paper, bound tightly around a rusty tin can (the mordant that draws out the colors and textures) and then steamed for 75 minutes. This sustainable practice brings nature’s beauty into your home. Very reasonable priced at $65. Come and enjoy the show.
