Wheeler Whirl Spins Up a Sweet New Flavor of the Month

Submitted By: Optimalcoachingservices@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Wheeler Whirl is back at it again, proving that small towns can dream big when it comes to dessert. This month’s limited-edition creation takes a trip straight to the Emirates with our “Dubai Inspired Whirl” — a TikTok-famous treat that’s making its way to Wheeler.

So, what’s in it? Picture this: rich, chocolatey soft serve piled high, a swirl of chocolate syrup, a hidden heart of decadent pistachio cream, a sprinkle of crushed pistachios for crunch, and the crown jewel on top — a Dubai-inspired chocolate square that’s as fancy as it sounds. It’s indulgent, nutty, and just the right kind of over-the-top.

And the best part? You don’t need a passport. Just swing by Wheeler Whirl, 23 Gregory St., Wheeler, Oregon, to snag yours for $10 before it swirls away.

Trust us… this isn’t just dessert, it’s an experience. One bite, and you’ll see why people are falling in love with this sweet sensation from Dubai to the Nehalem Bay.

Grab it fast, Wheeler because like all good things, this one’s limited edition.

Outreach for Service Opportunities

Submitted By: emilydprofessional@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hello! I help with a local church youth group and we are looking for service projects that would benefit our local community (ideally anywhere from Bay City to Manzanita). At this time we are looking for a service project involving hand making items to be donated locally (ideas would be hats, blankets, cards, ornaments, care packages, etc) to be done in the month of September. We cannot currently commit to an ongoing, scheduled project, but if you know of other kinds of service projects that could be in one sitting or as-needed, we’d love to hear about them!

Our ideal projects for this September would be able to be done by any age from 10 to 110, and going forward would be projects able to be done by teens. I look forward to being able to find ways to work together with the community!

Thank you community! Yard Sale for Gaza

Submitted By: brittanynichole85@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Thank you so much to our wonderful, generous North Coast community for coming together and making the yard sale for Gaza a success! We raised over $4000 thanks to the generosity of donors, VOLUNTEERS, and shoppers. We are blown away at the support and kindness people showed in response to this fundraiser.

We are able to donate $2000 to The Sameer Project and $2000 to Gaza Little Lights. We also raised $200 through our lemonade stand, which will be donated to Heal Palestine via the Kids Healing Kids summer initiative. Thanks Cove and Shane!

I urge everyone to check out these organizations in order to better understand the incredibly important and admirable work they are doing on the ground in Gaza. Please continue to donate when you can. It all makes a difference. In addition to The Sameer Project, Gaza Little Lights, and Heal Palestine, please support and spread awareness to organizations like

Gaza Soup Kitchen
Gaza Infant Care Collective
Gaza Mutual Aid Collective
Gaza Orphan Relief
PCRF

Obviously the amount of need greatly surpasses what most of us feel we can actually achieve to make a difference. Every action, regardless of size, can feel like a drop in the ocean compared to what is truly needed to even begin to hinder immeasurable suffering. I hope that in staying informed, active, donating, and through spreading awareness we can make good use of our time while our hearts ache for humanity. Watching our community come together in this way was a reminder that we are not alone in our grief for unspeakable injustice. We know that now, more than ever, that human connection is powerful and necessary for the future.

Thank you, again, from the bottom of our hearts.

Why I Can’t Keep Millie

Submitted By: ketzel.levine@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
For the last few weeks I’ve been posting on the bbq about Millie, an affectionate, well-behaved and very young 9 yr-old dog who needs a new home.

“She’s so sweet!”, friends say when they meet her. “And so pretty! Why aren’t you keeping her?”

So here’s why.

Our home is one where a lot of people come and go: family, friends, service folks and Airbnb guests. It’s all just a bit much for Millie, who just this spring was rescued from an unsafe situation and is only learning what it’s like to live a safe and stable life. With so many strangers coming and going, she gets stressed, barks and cannot settle.

We think she can do better than us. We imagine her in a quieter home with another dog for comfort and play (she adores dogs), easy access to outside (she lives to be outside) and of course, boatloads of love.

Like so many amazing canines who’ve survived abuse, Millie remains a very happy girl. She’s got a big, big heart. She loves the beach, the woods, playing with her dog friends, visiting her favorite humans, and even likes visiting Matt the vet (he thinks she’s pretty swell, too).

Her super powers are her recall and off-leash reliability, curling into a human lap (a good trick at 57 lbs), and never missing a meal. I particularly love her ball-crazed happy dance, as if she didn’t just drop the damn thing to pick it back up!

Will we miss her? Of course we will! But what a joy for both us and for Millie to find a home with far less comings-and-goings where she need never feel scared and unsafe again.

Thank you. Please get in touch if you’d like to meet her.

Green Coast Market in Rockaway Beach is excited to provide a place for you to recycle your plastic films, bags, padded mailer bags, bubble wrap, ziplocks, etc.

The plastic we collect will go directly to Trex, an outdoor decking and furniture manufacturer. When the community recycles enough pounds of plastics, Trex will provide an outdoor bench in return. Win win!

Green Coast Market is a local food store in downtown Rockaway. Find us at 117 S Miller Street Thursdays through Mondays from 10-6 (closed Tuesday and Wednesday). See you (and your plastics) soon!
