Beverly is a habitat restoration project coordinator with Tillamook Estuaries Partnership. Her job includes assessing salmon habitats and thinking of ways to make them healthier, then putting those ideas into practice. Beverly has always enjoyed working with animals and has spent the last several years focusing on salmon. She’s previously worked at both the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, monitoring fishing activity and conducting surveys that look for salmon and their redds (spawning sites). She has a big passion for the ecosystems here in Tillamook County and is always excited to find ways to conserve and promote healthy habitats.

We’ve got a little extra room and we’re looking for just the right artists and crafters to show/sell their work.
The details: there is no cost to show, and you don’t have to be there. It’s more like a pop-up shop/gallery. We set up, handle all sales, you keep 75% of the proceeds.
We’re looking for handmade work produced in our community. And, here’s the catch: we’ve got a number of styles/disciplines covered already. Which is to say, we’ve already got a candle-maker (actually two) so we’re covered in that regard. Wall space is also limited.
Anyway, show us what you’ve got–send photos and hopefully we can add you to the show.

The short film follows native women responsible for caretaking of traditional seeds whose existence is threatened by centuries of colonial practices. The film explores food security, environmental disconnection, climate change, land theft and more.
Fox, a Mohawk filmmaker focused on sharing empowering stories of resilient Indigenous women, will also screen Tentsitewakwe, another short documentary.
Following the screenings, she will be joined by Cliff Taylor for a Q&A.

With traditional stories and songs, Kitchen engages children and learners of all ages. Children also can experiment with and make their own indigenous instruments.
A member of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma, Kitchen is an educator and musician in Oregon. She works as a student support specialist for the Portland Public Schools’ Indian Education Project, helping American Indian and Alaskan native students complete high school and enter college.
A musician who studied vocal performance in Paris, France, Kitchen, who sings in several languages, also teaches Native songs to children ages 3 to 5 in a Native Montessori program. She performs with the musical group Border Crossing.
Kitchen also is outreach director for Painted Sky, a not-for-profit organization that honors Native American culture by making it possible for Native children to study music and dance.
Kitchen’s visit to the Cannon Beach Library is part of The Gathering, a celebration of Native American Heritage Month. The weekend of Nov. 15 and 16 will be filled with art, film and conversation focusing on the Native American experience.
All Gathering events are free of charge. Donations are encouraged.
In addition to Kitchen’s appearance at the Cannon Beach Library, The Gathering includes:
◦ 7 p.m. Coaster Theatre Playhouse: Award-winning director Katsitsionni Fox will premier her upcoming documentary, “Kanenon:we – Original Seeds.” The film explores food security, environmental disconnection, climate change, land theft and more. Fox will be joined by poet Cliff Taylor (Ponca) for a question-and-answer session following the film.
◦ 11 a.m. Cannon Beach History Center & Museum: Scholar Brad Mix (Red River Métis) will
discuss mixed-blood identity, not only within the Métis Nation but across indigenous and mixed- heritage communities.

With sporadic help from our government, it is important in our community and surrounding areas that we stay on top of the push to keep our North County Food Bank and the Nehalem Bay Community Food Pantry secure. The North County Food Bank is open on Tuesday. You can take food there on Tuesday from 10 AM to noon. They are only able to take food at this time-no clothing or such. The mailing address for them is NCFB, PO Box 162, Wheeler, Oregon 97147. Or you can bring food you would like to donate to our protest. Nehalem Bay Community Services, located at the Methodist Church in Nehalem, is requesting food, both for people and animals, plus kitty litter. They can take clean, used clothing, blankets, bedding, pillows, and personal care items. They are open Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. Also, on Wednesday from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Please do what you can when you can. The North County Resistance was taking donations at their protest this past Saturday. It worked very well with both donations and cash for these two organizations. Thank you all very much.
Well, where do we go from here? North County Resistance is looking at all our unresolved problems. We thought the Democrats would remain unified. Who is going to stand up and push for more negotiations. Our Resistance will carry on. We will continue to Protest.
