North County Food Bank to Move

Submitted By: northtillamookcountyfoodbank@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
The Nehalem Bay Health District and the North County Food Bank are pleased to announce that the two organizations have reached an agreement that will provide the Food Bank with food storage and distribution facilities in the soon-to-be-vacated Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy (the former Rinehart Clinic) in Wheeler.

The current Health Center facility will be vacant on or about October 8, 2025 while the Health Center staff and services relocate to the new Health Center in Wheeler.

Under the agreement with the Health District, the Food Bank will lease a portion of the vacated building for up to nine months while modifications are made to a Food Bank property behind the Hope Chest Thrift Shop that is located between Nehalem and Manzanita on U.S. Highway 101. The Food Bank has been working to prepare the new location for some time.

The new temporary location of the Food Bank will ensure that weekly food distribution will be minimally impacted, while work on the new Food Bank location continues. NCFB plans to be on its own property in approximately 9 months, and will keep our community aware of our progress.

The Health District expects to begin environmental remediation work on the old Wheeler hospital later this year. The work, including removal of hazardous materials in the 70-year-old building, cannot be done while the building is occupied. The Food Bank has occupied space in the lower level of the old hospital for many years.

The Health District shares with the Food Bank not only a long history of collaboration but a strong commitment to addressing food security in our community.

“The District appreciates and supports the Food Bank mission,” said Health District president Marc Johnson, “and we certainly appreciate their understanding that the condition of the old hospital has become increasingly problematic and expensive as a location for a vital community service.”

“The North County Food Bank Board, given a number of options for a temporary location, feels that continuing our partnership with NBHD and leasing the space offered in the old Rinehart Clinic building is the best way for NCFB to continue serving our community and neighbors,” said Jackie McCrady, NCFB Board President. “We hope to remain open without interruption to food distribution during our move in October.”

“The food bank sincerely appreciates everyone who helped make this happen, including Nehalem Bay Health District, Nehalem Bay Community Services, and members of our community,” added McCrady.

A formal agreement is expected to be completed soon.

We hope to see you at the upcoming Community Meeting on Tuesday, September 30 at 6p.m. All are welcome!

Living in this fragile area near the ocean, wetlands, and forested areas, reminds us of the many ways having a healthy ecological system is crucial to our community’s health and wellbeing. Let us all become caring stewards of the wild that surrounds us. The beavers and other wild creatures who depend on the wetlands will thank you.

NCCWP wants no more logging and pesticide use in drinking water sources regardless of who owns the land, and we want an end to pesticide
applications near where people live, work and recreate. Safe drinking water and clean air are part of the public trust that all people are entitled to have. www.healthywatershed.org | www.facebook.com/NCCWATERSHEDPROTECTION

Join us on Friday to build public-access trails on Alder Creek Farm! Our Stewardship Crew meets from 10:00AM – 12:00PM every Friday.

These work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails.

Alder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.

Tools and gloves are provided, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. We will be working on uneven ground, bending, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Join as frequently as you please. Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.

A.I. – are we screwed??

Submitted By: bigbeach@gmx.com – Click to email about this post
Why is the anti-Christ character Peter Theil (PayPal Mafia), who supplies Israel with the A.I. to target children in Gaza, currently giving speeches about the anti-Christ? This guy is a Satanic freak, along with Oracle’s Ellison. And BEWARE, our west coast governors’ new ‘health’ board or whatever, is readying to push Ellison’s AI-powered mRNA shots on their populaces (us):

AI – the end of humanity maybe?

Antichrist Invasion?
Alien Invasion?

Whatever the origins, we might be real screwed, real soon.

And get ready to just ‘tap’ the chip in your hand on the ‘card reader’ any day now…it’s just so convenient! If I forget my card or my phone’s battery dies, I can still buy food, get on the bus, pay tolls, or unlock the doors to my Tesla! Just with the wave on my hand! (Unless I am not up to date on my mRNA shots, or if I speak out against genocide, or if I’ve used up all my allotted carbon credits for the month.)

Kirk:

Israel’s Hitlerian leader has assured the world TWICE that Israel did not kill Charlie Kirk! Of course not! Israel is not a pariah genocidal state targeting children in Gaza with Oracle’s and Palantir’s A.I. Israel is a peace-loving country that doesn’t interfere with American politics or culture at all, ever.

Charlie was changing his view of Israel. Three days before he died, he went on Megan Kelly’s show talking about how Israel was pressuring American influencers to support their Greater Israel genocide project. Yes, Charlie had recently concluded that Israel was committing a genocide. (Late to the table but that’s okay, and it got him killed.). Charlie also recently turned down I think 30-million dollars from Bibi. Apparently Charlie loved much about Israel but was souring on Bibi and his genocide.

I believe the furry trannies are patsies and did not know what was planned at all.

Art Class

Submitted By: shirl@shirlireland.com – Click to email about this post
You may have seen me painting these at the Manzanita Farmer’s Market or on the beach this summer… I’m a local artist and art teacher.

I’ll be teaching a painting class intensive in October… 4 classes in two weeks. Topics will include composition, drawing, color, tone/value, edges, brushwork and palette knife work. The building blocks of a successful painting!

I’ll be using oils and demonstrating in that medium. If you prefer, you can use acrylics or gouache. Each class will have a short lecture to start and then you’ll put those principles into action as you work on your individual painting. Some art history will also be part of the class, as I focus on a particular artist that was a master of our ‘topic of the day’.

The class will be in Garibaldi Oregon. We’ll meet October 14, 16, 21 & 23… Each Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be a very small class so lots of time for individual attention.

All levels are welcome. I’m offering two ways to take the class. If you have all your own painting supplies, the cost will be $120 for the entire session. OR, I can provide all oil painting supplies you’ll need and you just bring brushes (and a palette knife if you’d like) for $160 for the session. Tables and chairs are provided, stand if you prefer.

The class has limited spaces. I’m asking for a 50% deposit to secure your spot. The deposit of $60 or $80 (including supplies) can be made via card, check or cash.

Contact me anytime with questions or to sign up… Shirl

Poses uses many props to support the body so you can pause, breathe, and slow down for engaging with your inner landscapes. Many different options will be offered to best support your physical, spiritual, and mental bodies in the moment.

Classical ensembles concert at St. Catherine Episcopal Church

Submitted By: bill.britton@nocsymphony.org – Click to email about this post
In gratitude for the enthusiastic responses to its past performances, on October 4 the North Oregon Coast Symphony will present a FREE classical music concert featuring small wind and string ensembles at St. Catherine Episcopal Church in Nehalem.

For several years, the symphony performed regularly at St. Catherine until it outgrew the venue. Because musicians loved playing at the church, with its wonderful acoustics and appreciative audiences, several small groups made up of current and former symphony members have put together a program of chamber music suited for the smaller venue.

Queentet–a string quartet plus clarinet– will play movements from Mozart’s famous clarinet quintet, K 581. A trio of flutes will present two contemporary pieces, one of which, Birds, has movements entitled Birdsong, Flight, and The Journey. The FAB piano trio (violin, cello, piano) will perform the gentle second movement from Mendelssohn’s first piano trio. The Astoria Tuba Quartet will round out the program with a selection of pieces by composers ranging from the baroque-era Buxtehude to the local (Peninsula) Norm Poulshock.

The concert will take place on Saturday, October 4 at St. Catherine Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101, Nehalem, OR ) beginning at 3 pm.

There will be no fee for admission, but donations are encouraged.
