Windows 10 Questions

Submitted By: neahtech@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hi all,

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about Windows 10 end of support notifications.
I’d thought I’d pass on my answer to the community.

If you can ignore the notifications, we should have at least 2 years until it’s a problem.
Windows 10 will function the same long after October. The key is having an updated browser. Chrome and Firefox are the two most common alternatives to MS Edge. It looks like Chrome will still function after October but will not release updates. So it may start to be compromised after a year or so. Firefox will most likely update on Windows 10 for at least 2 years. Last time this happened it was 4 years of updates. They have no definitive timeline.

Bottom line, no need to panic buy a new PC. Or, at least take your time and enjoy shopping for a new one? I personally will wait at least a year because I don’t see any threat or inconvenience currently. This is from my years of experience.

Hope this helps those that were wondering.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or if I can help with any tech issues.

Thanks again,

Abram Harris

Glass Display Cabinet – Perfect for Collectibles or Dishware!

Submitted By: mattalmond2@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Looking for a stylish way to display your treasures? I’m selling a versatile glass display cabinet that’s perfect for collectibles, dishware, or anything you want to showcase!

This sturdy cabinet measures 30″ across the front, 16.5″ deep, and 70.5″ tall. It features two sections for ample display space:

Bottom Section: Includes a bottom shelf and one glass shelf.

Top Section: Sits securely on the bottom section and has a bottom shelf and two glass shelves.

The frame appears to be metal, and while it’s in great condition overall, there are three small spots where the black finish has chipped. These are minor and don’t detract from the cabinet’s functionality or overall appeal.

I’m asking $20 or best offer.

Buyer must be able to pick up the cabinet from Manzanita. I am unable to deliver.

Items within the cabinet (in the photos) are not included.

Don’t miss out on this great deal! Email me if you’re interested or have any questions.

TRUMPS SELF ENRICHMENT GOALS..

Submitted By: tim4surf@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
In Donald Trump’s second term, the presidency isn’t just entangled with private interests. Evidently, it’s now being used to advance them. Trump’s private business interests shadow his official duties more closely than ever, embedded in trade negotiations, international meetings and presidential travel. Trump’s presidency increasingly appears to function as an extension of the Trump business brand. His recent trip to Scotland made that dynamic harder than ever to ignore. What was for weeks described by the media as a “private” trip for the ribbon-cutting of a new course at the Trump International Scotland in Aberdeenshire, later evolved to be framed by the White House as a “working visit” and squeezed meetings with world leaders between golf sessions and promotional efforts — primarily at Trump’s own properties, of course. This means American taxpayers essentially underwrote a promotional visit to a Trump-branded property at estimates — based on a GAO report from 2017 on Trump personal visits to Florida — will cost U.S. taxpayers around $10 million in taxpayer dollars in expenses. But for Trump, the returns could be far greater.Trump has consistently reported more income from businesses in Scotland than with any other foreign country, according to an analysis of disclosures on file with the Office of Government Ethics. He has personally made over $206 million in income from his Scottish businesses since first entering the White House in 2017, accounting for roughly half of his $412 million haul from foreign businesses during that time. The meetings that Trump has had in Scotland blur the distinction even further. Trump’s meetings — primarily at Trump-branded venues — include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Scottish First Minister John Swinney and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. But that’s only the beginning. There has been widespread speculation in UK media that the president and White House officials are pressuring Starmer to get the Open Championship to return to Trump’s Turnberry golf course. UK officials met with the R&A, the tournament’s governing body, about returning the Open to Trump Turnberry in April after reports claiming that Starmer instructed them to do so. The R&A’s new chief executive said that he had a “good dialogue” with Eric Trump, who formally leads the Trump Organization alongside brother Donald Trump Jr., in recent months and confirmed that the governing body started investigating the “feasability” of whether Turnberry could host The Open, but has reiterated multiple times that it would not be swayed by UK government requests. He also said the size of the event — with more than 250,000 people involved — would make Turnberry a “challenging” venue, which is why the sport has no immediate plans to use the course. The golf diplomacy may look symbolic, but it isn’t inconsequential. Hosting the tournament would mean prestige — and cold, hard cash — for a Trump property. The convergence of diplomacy and self-interest would have once triggered alarm across the political spectrum but now barely registers in the never-ending news cycle. But the risks remain. Formally led by Trump’s eldest sons, the Trump Organization has announced a flurry of international projects, often in close proximity to his presidential travel. That includes deals in countries with authoritarian rule and evolving strategic ties to the United States. Trump’s first major international trip in this term began in Saudi Arabia, where Trump Tower Jeddah is being developed, and also included stops in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Weeks before Trump traveled to the Middle East for the trip, the Trump Organization announced development of Trump Tower Dubai in the UAE and a new golf resort in Qatar.

RadRover eBike for sale in Manzanita

Submitted By: jeremy803@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
2017 RadRover eBike for sale. A great beach bike, in decent condition (I’m selling because I have a new one). Various rusty parts on it, derailleur needs attention (stuck in 3rd gear). Cadence sensor missing some magnets (so isn’t consistent), but I use the thumb throttle all the time, so it’s not an issue for me and I never fixed. When new, the battery started at 25 to 30 miles, does 15 to 20 now. Motor is great and super quiet. New brake cables. New front tire. Back tire worn. A bunch of spare parts (controller, throttle, etc), keys for battery, and the 2A charger. Also comes with a detachable front basket, I kind of like it, but also liked the bike without it. The bike has 3308 miles on the odometer. Price is $300 OBO. Bike located in Manzanita near the post office. To see more pics, I have them posted to Photo Album here (photos.app.goo.gl/R73ZZRVsSg7BsJ3Q6)

The Art of the Mental Reset Without Quitting Your Life and Moving to a Yurt

Submitted By: Optimalcoachingservices@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
The typical day goes something like this: You get up, get dressed, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and scroll through Facebook or TikTok. Suddenly…”holy crap,” you’re late. You sprint upstairs, shower at lightning speed, jump in the car, and rush to work.

Now it’s emails (about 60,000 of them), needy coworkers tugging at your pant leg because you are super important, and clients or customers whose energy drains you faster than your phone when you accidentally leave the flashlight on. Before you know it, it’s 5:00 p.m. and you’ve realized two things: you never ate lunch, and your water bottle is still full.

Now you’re driving home. You’re stuck behind a tractor trailer going 15 miles under the speed limit staring at a construction worker holding a STOP sign who, at this distance, looks about the size of an orange vested Polly Pocket. You finally get home, open the fridge like it owes you money, grab the fastest, unhealthiest meal possible, inhale it like you’re training for Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, then collapse on the couch with an adult beverage and the remote.

And then… surprise!… you wake up the next morning feeling bloated, cranky, foggy, and about as rested as if you’d spent the night listening to AOL dial-up on repeat (with a side of VCR tracking static for ambiance)! Welcome to the “Crazy Cycle” that most Americans live on repeat.

Why Your Body is Revolting (Literally)

Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes: Your nervous system has two modes: the sympathetic (fight, flight, or freeze) and the parasympathetic (rest and digest).

When you’re in go-go-go mode, your body basically says, “Forget digestion! This woman’s clearly being chased by a bear!” So even if you manage to scarf down dinner, your gut is still in panic mode. Cue bloating, brain fog, and a metabolism slower than the WiFi on an airplane.

And, here’s the kicker: your mental wellness and physical health are tangled up like a telephone cord from the 80s. Stress impacts your body. Your body impacts your mind. And, you guessed it, your mind impacts your body. The cycle continues. This is why you keep waking up tired and cranky instead of rested and ready, and you can’t seem to lose the sexy belly bulge.

But it’s okay. Life might be stuck in fast-forward, but you don’t have to keep flailing like you’re trapped in one of those 80s quicksand scenes nobody actually survived, or ever actually saw in real life. With a couple of small, ridiculously doable tweaks, you can hit pause, reset your body, and stop feeling like you’ve been run over by Monday.

The Fix: Slow Down and Reset

1. The Alarm Hack (Morning Prep)
When you’re sipping coffee and scrolling TikTok, set alarms to remind you to drink and eat throughout the day. Give it a fun alarm sound and utilize the label with some bad-assery affirmations like, “My health is non‑negotiable,” or “I make time to invest in me!” Then, when you get to work, every time you open one of your 60,000 emails, take three to four sips of water. Do this, and by the time you get home, you’ll be hydrated (and peeing like it’s an Olympic sport).

2. The 60-Second Ocean Breath (Before Dinner)
Before you eat, sit down and breathe. Inhale for 4, hold for 2, exhale for 6. Picture the tide rolling in and out. Do this two to three times. And, if you have kids yelling “What’s for dinner?” consider this your moment of rebellion.

3. The 20-Minute Meal
Set a timer for 20 minutes (I know that doesn’t sound like a very long time, but it’s probably much longer than your five minute meal over the sink), sit at an actual table, and play some music (classical if you’re fancy, 80’s power ballads if you’re me). Use all your senses: smell the food, stare at it, notice the color palette, throw out some gratitude, and chew slowly tasting every bite. This will keep you fuller longer, less likely to snack, and you might even have enough energy for a walk rather than spending the evening on the couch, scrolling Netflix like it’s your job.

Bottom Line: You can jumpstart your health goals without hitting the gym. You just need to stop eating like a raccoon in a gas station parking lot. Slow down, reset, and watch how different your day feels tomorrow.

PROTEST IN NEHALEM THIS WEEK, August 2, noon to 2 PM

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post

Thank you to everyone who attended the Wheeler Peaceful Protest this past Saturday. Around 30–35 people gathered, and we were encouraged by the many supportive gestures from passing travelers. We focus on the positive support we receive and encourage everyone to keep our demonstration friendly and welcoming. It was wonderful to see so many new faces—your presence truly makes a difference.

Please make time to join us this coming Saturday, August 2, in Nehalem, from noon to two. Or show up when you can and leave when you need to.

There are no simple solutions to the challenges we face. It’s important to stand up when laws are broken, when free speech is threatened, or when any leader overreaches their authority. We encourage everyone to participate in peaceful protests across the country and to consider how you can contribute. In addition to joining us for demonstrations or making thoughtful consumer choices, you might also:

Volunteer with local organizations supporting our mission

Contact your elected representatives to voice your concerns

Share information and updates on social media to raise awareness

Educate friends and family about the issues at hand

Don’t support billionaire businesses

Every action counts, and your involvement strengthens our community. Please invite your friends to join our peaceful protest on Saturday, August 2, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Nehalem, and encourage them to support positive change in their everyday choices.

Take Action for Positive Change!

Join our peaceful protest this Saturday, August 2, from noon to two in Nehalem—bring your friends for greater impact.

Please remember to dress in layers, bring water, and, if you have one, a sign—just make sure all signs are positive and respectful. We have extra signs available, and the best messages are those that come from the heart. If you’ve misplaced a water bottle in Wheeler or Manzanita, check the lost and found box.

Our movement is rooted in unity and a shared commitment to justice and free speech. By showing up for peaceful demonstrations, supporting local causes, and making thoughtful choices, we can work together for a better future. Every action, big or small, strengthens our community and helps create positive change.

We are grateful for the generosity of those who continue to support the North County Food Bank. Flags are available for $2, $4, and $6 each, with proceeds going to the NCFB.

Please invite your friends and neighbors to stand with us this Saturday in Nehalem. Together, we can amplify our voices and build a more just, inclusive community.
