vote by mail

As Reagan liked to say: “Here we go again.”

The latest “cats chasing a laser pointer” event is about vote by mail.

From PolitiFact:
“After meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15 in Alaska, Trump told Hannity that Putin said the 2020 U.S. presidential election was ‘rigged’ because of mail-in voting.”

Putin is manipulating Trump to sow distrust in US elections. It works because it plays to Trump’s ego.

This also helps distract Americans from what’s important, and the media is largely getting sucked in by it. Simply refuting the lies is not enough. Any news story that fails to point out what’s behind the current rhetoric is a disservice to the public.

KEEP THE RAILS

Submitted By: mbeach125@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
North County once had stately churches, schools and hotels. Then so-called improvements replaced vintage construction. Wrecking balls destroyed valuable resources from Bay City to Nehalem. Now an impulse from north county’s youngest city would destroy our oldest remaining investment.
Leaders in Rockaway want a mile of rails torn from the railroad built over a century ago. Those rails helped connect cities along Tillamook and Nehalem Bays with the valley. Demolition would cut the historic ties which brought so much prosperity to Tillamook County. And which promise to bring so much more.
For 13 years the Salmonberry Trail Agency, a coalition of public agencies and private organizations, has developed plans to convert the old railroad into a hiking/biking trail. Plans include keeping the rails along the coast for tourist trains. The Port of Tillamook Bay website features details.
Officials at the Port Authority have custody of our priceless legacy. The Salmonberry Trail uses our railroad heritage as a bridge to a profitable future. Please ask members of the Port Authority board to prevent one special interest from destroying that vision.

Come to the Old Wheeler Hotel to Swap Stories

The last in our series of “Swappin’ Stories” is going to be at the Old Wheeler Hotel on Thursday at 3:30. Come to tell all of your remembrances of old times in Wheeler. Talk about the clinic, the school, fishing or the mills. Just come and talk about Wheeler. If the earlier sessions were fun, this promises to be even better. We will be in Katie’s breakfast room of the historic hotel.

Two (2) Modern End Bedside Tables

Pair of modern end or bedside tables. Purchased brand new at TJ Maxx last year for $100 a piece, meaning $200 together if your math skills are iffy. Tags and purchase receipts are present. Both units in great condition. Constructed of solid acacia wood, pleasing heft. Top drawer does exhibit some lateral play. Attached lengthy power cable inside to power built-in exterior power & usb hub which I utilized to conveniently power a lamp on top and phone. Characterful antiqued patina on metal drawer pulls. Lovely exposed wood grain throughout, dazzling rich black stain. Only one unit is photographed here due to laziness but I do have two of these identical units on offer. Measuring 20 x 14 x 25 inches. $100 cash claims both. Price negotiable. Pickup from Rockaway Beach.

Unusual Mango Wood Sofa End Table Nightstand

Submitted By: dldoktor@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
A handsome versatile little table I purchased brand new at TJ Maxx several months ago for a quite modest $45. Utilized scantily, basically brand new, with the caveat that this piece features attributes which some may classify as “defects”. The characterful top surface is level, yet neat second tier is pitched forward a bit. See photo. Four supporting corners at its base are slightly misaligned. A felt pad, bumper, or similar solution beneath the offending corner will offset that. Versatile piece, unique with practical design; convenient to slide beneath your sofa/couch/chair. Some items from TJ’s can feel chintzy, but this table actually feels pretty solid, yet lightweight. Among the higher quality furniture units I have discovered at TJ’s. I can meet you from Tillamook to Cannon Beach. A mere $20 cash takes it.
