I need your Support

I need your Support!
Hi, it’s Clif Kemp, City Councilor in Wheeler. As the vote deadline approaches, I just wanted to reach out to anyone that has not cast their ballot, to please consider my re-election for the 2 year seat. It’s been a great honor to serve you on the Planning Commission and City Council for these past 25-30 months.
I have several projects underway for new revenue potential to the city with long term parking fees, boat ramp fees and waterfront park seasonal vendors fees. Mary Johnson has copies of my initial proposals, which is a complicated issue with several land owners involved: ODOT, Tillamook RR, ODFW, and city of Wheeler, and considerations for merchants and adjacent businesses. I am the Council rep to Port of Nehalem, where we are looking for some dredging help, most of which is on DSL leases (again complicated). I was honored to be chosen by the Council to be lead Councilor for waterfront development, blight conforming issues in residential and commercial areas, and Council rep to TSP for 10 year strategy for waterfront development, trails, walkways, and safety for Wheeler.
I’ll need help on fresh ideas, from non-conflicted councilors, and chose to support Karen Mathews and Deanne Ragnell, who have worked tirelessly for improving the city over the years that I have here. I don’t think sending individuals with openly expressed relationships of interest with this particular developer will serve the best interest of the city to attain some logical development done with Botts Marsh, LLC, or any other Developer. If you have followed any of the city affairs recently, you are aware I have a strong background of developing and building in retail, real estate, property management, and business startups. I’m not here to pick on anyone, just to be the voice of reason. Thanks for listening, and thanks for voting, together we can get this done.

EIGHT TREASURES QIGONG
In November I will be teaching Eight Treasures Qigong in the beautiful sanctuary space at St Catherine’s church in Nehalem

It is one of the earliest Qigong forms in China dating back to the 12th century when it was developed to help Buddhist Monks prevent problems with joints and tendons. The practice of Eight Treasures allows us to move more freely and keep qi or life energy moving throughout our body.
It is designed to build strong bones, make tendons more flexible, and strengthen organ-energy systems.

I also will be teaching a self massage practice, calming breathing techniques, and will end with a compassionate heart meditation.

Wear something comfortable to move in.
Masks are not required but please wear one if that makes you more comfortable.

A little bit about me…. I became interested in Qigong over 30 years ago. In the last 10 years I have studied with Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School and am certified in several of their Medical Qigong forms. I love to share this powerful healing tool.
Warmly,
Janet Maher

AS LIFE GOES FORWARD

Tomorrow, I leave for an international trip planned months ago and will not have internet access or know the outcome of the election until several days after results are announced.

Before I leave, I want you to know that I will work hard for our city regardless of the outcome of the election. I want to assure you that I have successfully worked alongside people with differing opinions in the past and will continue doing so going forward.

It is my most heart felt hope to come back to serve on the council where the representatives of this town work together for the best solutions under the law.

With Respect,

Karen Matthews

yoga looking for a nest

Submitted By: diananess@me.com – Click to email about this post
hello everyone. I am late 50’s single woman and I returned to Tillamook county to help assist my elderly folks over 2 years ago. My father passed away in August and I would like to stay nearby my mother for a while so I’m looking for a 6 mths to a year lease near Nehalem/manzanita to nest and rest and stay close to mom. Ideally I want to feel rooted so bringing my things from my storage unit is ideal. It’s been a long journey and I’m ready to lean into community and rest. I am open to possibilities however would like to stay between 1,200 and 1,400 a month. I’m an excellent tenant and human that is kind and respectful. Open to a furnished place as well but would be shorter term if that’s the situation. look forward to hearing from you and allowing the beautiful space to find me. Thank you.

I just received this wood coffee table. It has some scratches and a crack that could be patched by some creative and clever person.
I’ve gotten a refund from the manufacturer so am happy to pass it on for free. I had paid $645 for it.
I’d love it picked up ASAP it’s large and hard to store.

Fun inflatable paddleboard! Comes with paddle, pump, and carrier bag. Heavy duty, yet rolls up nicely into bag once deflated and very portable—this summer I hiked 6 miles with it to go float on a lake.

Like new condition and only used a couple of times. Only selling because I’m moving and don’t have space.

Wheeler Voters Change direction Write in Heidi Stacks for 2-Year Council Term

Submitted By: nedtouno2@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Wheeler Voters – If you are not satisfied with the direction in which Wheeler has been going the past two years – Write in Heidi Stacks for a 2-Year Council Term (underneath Clif Kemp’s name on the ballot)!

When you open your ballot, you will see that Clif Kemp is unopposed for a two-year term. Mr. Kemp was appointed (not elected) to the City Council about two years ago. While some of us weren’t necessarily attending all City Council meetings, asking questions of our elected officials to hold them accountable to everyone in Wheeler, the Council was making decisions that have placed the City of Wheeler in major legal and financial jeopardy. That is an unavoidable and very unfortunate fact (whatever your stance on the development proposals that have divided our community).

Wheeler is paying hefty legal fees to defend the City in federal court and in actions before the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA). The City has a small budget and is considering the sale of assets to cover on-going legal expenses. Regular operating expenses are being reduced – have you noticed the marked decrease in staff and public service hours at City Hall?

You do have a choice if you want Wheeler to change direction! Write in Heidi Stacks for the two-year term on City Council. Heidi previously served on City Council and as Mayor and has always taken seriously her responsibilities as an elected official. She educates herself on best practices of councilors and city councils in Oregon. Heidi is a tireless volunteer for emergency preparedness and you can count on her to show up for Wheeler. Heidi and her family have lived in Wheeler for decades. Heidi will help Wheeler ‘stop digging’ and find a way through the current legal and financial morass.

Vote today for Heidi Stacks – write in – two year Wheeler City Council term!

Mark Wants Safe Access for All

Submitted By: MarkForCouncil2022@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I’ve spoken with residents who aren’t able to join many of the activities we often take for granted. Imagine not being able to attend Muttzanita’s beach games, or participate in a beach cleanup activity, or even attend the Farmer’s Market, because the ground is not stable enough to navigate. There’s an affordable product that allows safe access for everyone to beaches and areas with rough ground: Mobi Mats (shop.mobi-mat.com/).

I contacted the Lincoln City Visitor Center recently to learn how we could follow their lead, buy and install the Mobi Mats here in Manzanita. Many communities up and down the coast are now using these mats.

Lincoln City was able to pay for the Mobi Mats with Transient Lodging Tax money earmarked for tourism. The justification was that they would receive publicity value in source markets that would be equal to or greater than the cost of the mats.

The mats can be rolled out in the spring, then rolled back up in the fall, and are compact and easy to store. One side benefit noticed was that more beach visitors used the mats to access the beach, reducing foot traffic on the dunes.

Let’s look at this affordable solution to increasing safe and easy access not only to our amazing shoreline but for events such as the Manzanita Farmers Markets for both residents and visitors!

I’m Mark Kuestner, and I’m asking for one of your votes for the two open City Council positions for Manzanita City Council on November 8. Visit my website, www.MarkForCouncil2022.com to learn more.

Hoffman Gallery Word & Image Show

Submitted By: HoffmanArtsNews@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Word & Image ~ Now in its sixth year!
Through October the gallery will feature artwork and writing created over the summer in a response project called “Word & Image.” Each writer and each artist creates new work in response to one of three pieces submitted by their partner.

A writer might create a new poem in response to a watercolor, for example. A photographer might make a new image in response to a prose piece. The resulting new works will be printed on broadsides, which will hang in the Hoffman Gallery, as well as published in a book.

See the calendar for all the details at hoffmanarts.org/events/oct-2022-gallery-show-2/
