Thanks to BBQ and Handymen

Submitted By: pangaeagaia@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Phew, Spring weather is finally approaching and it’s time to express my gratitude to BBQ for helping me find some of the finest handymen in the county, and to the Handymen themselves:
To Tony Perez at Northwest Tree and Landscape, thank you for the courteous, efficient and affordable job you did on my 3 felled trees from the storm of 24 December. Your work was deftly engineered, your crew brave and safe and your prices were competitive. I am glad that the kind man on the phone was the person I met at my home and the professional who completed all work in record time, from arrival to departure. Thank you!

To Matt Campbell, Handyman and friend, you have become a great help to me. You have a long list of abilities offered on BBQ, but my favorites really made you shine.
Your willingness to clear the gutters while climbing a ladder in the pouring rain showed me that you were not deterred by the elements, or tall ladders.
You also admitted when you couldn’t fix something, showing me what needed to be done, how to do it, or who to call instead.
You brought more color and light to the walls of my home, and adjusted my bed to make it more comfortable for my old body. The stars truly aligned when you returned my call after the 3 trees fell in the December storm You couldn’t do anything with 40 foot trees, but the best luck I’ve had was finding you on the other end of the phone. Thank you!

To Ken Erickson, former logger extraordinaire, thank you for removing 2 large maple trees from my yard. I raised them from seeds and hated losing the last 2 of the 5 I had grown. However they kept my gutter full of leaves and offered so much shade too close to the house that the grass under the trees on this north face became moss. You carefully assessed the situation, and proceeded with great experience to cut them down without any damage to roof, gutters, fence or neighbor’s home. You are courteous, clean and clearly a perfectionist. You left the yard without tree debris, hauling away all cuttings.
I am truly impressed by this gentleman, hoping I can reach out to him again should I have the need of a very handy man. Thank you, Ken and Cindy

I would recommend any of these handymen to the community. I may be poorer in cash, but I am richer for knowing you all.

The local north county grassroots group supporting the Nehalem Bay Health District bond measure has scheduled a Virtual Town Hall zoom session. Please join us.

Zoom link: us02web.zoom.us/j/81974475790?pwd=aEhYSFZqVlJKSG44THhQTEtDZU1BZz09

The public is invited to all the events to hear about the Health District’s three-part proposal to improve local health and senior care.

The plan includes construction of a new, state-of-the-art Nehalem Bay Health District and Pharmacy, a medical facility that will provide the needed space to provide specialty health care services not currently available in the community.

The Health District is also planning to renovate and modernize the Nehalem Valley Care Center, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, to improve the care and safety of seniors who need 24-hour nursing care.

And the bond measure will support site preparation leading to workforce housing focused on the community housing needs of medical and other essential workers.

For more on the bond measure visit www.nehalemhealthcare.com and follow the campaign on Facebook at www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090438080823

Ballots for the May 16 election will begin to arrive in voter’s mailboxes around April 26.

Dave Dillon want to debate?

Submitted By: andynorris21@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
Letter to Dave Dillon:

You recently posted a photo of my car and my anti-war bumper stickers on FB. You wrote on the FB post: ‘clearly this person has mental problems.’

Years ago when you were director of The Hoffman Center, you hosted and promoted my powerful anti-war film Targeting Iran.

I’m not sure when you became a war-monger, but instead of name calling on FB, how about you and I debate at Hoffman?

I’ll take the anti-war side and you take the pro-war side. Deal?

Alas, I didn’t shoot Big Pharma’s ‘covid’ junk that does nothing to stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2, so I’m not sure if I’m even allowed in the Hoffman Center?

I know I’m banned from Pickelball at NCRD for not shooting that useless junk…

If not Dave, any other takers?

We can debate in the parking lot if my unvaxxed, non-GMO self is not allowed inside.

Andy Norris

p.s. trillions to big pharma for a useless ‘vax’ can be our next debate

INTERNATIONAL DARK SKY WEEK 2023!

Submitted By: centerpoint.healing.arts@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Dear BBQ Community-

April 15-22…

is INTERNATIONAL DARK SKY WEEK 2023!

What is Dark Sky week?

It is a chance to address light pollution and discover the beauty of our night sky.

You can learn more at:

idsw.darksky.org/

“WHAT IS LIGHT POLLUTION?

Any artificial light that is not needed is a pollutant that has serious and far-reaching consequences that are harmful to all living things.

Light pollution can:

disrupt wildlife

impact human health

waste money and energy

contribute to climate change

block our view of the universe

83% of the global population lives under a light-polluted sky.”

Preserving darkness is essential for our health, to protect our natural circadian cycle and to promote good quality sleep that helps us thrive.

Stargazing is an ancient meditation practice that uplifts our our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. It can spark our imagination, gift self-reflection, connect us to inner peace and inspire a sense of interconnected meaning.

This week, weather permitting, look west in the evenings and see if you can spot the planet Venus!

Warm wishes! – Za Connor

Why ME for NCRD

Submitted By: constanceforncrd@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hello Community, Constance! here. This time to ask if you’ve seen my campaign signs? What do you think?

I’m a bit embarrassed to say…prior to moving here in April of 2007, we never recycled. My husband owned his own business which created free garbage service for us and that’s how we disposed of our garbage, ALL of our garbage. Now, having become conscious of our fragile planet, and joining the culture of our communities, we now recycle-repurpose-reuse whenever possible.

Now, back to the signs…you may notice they may not look quite as commercially made as some you will see. This is because they are created newly from being repurposed from my campaign 2 years ago as well as about 25 others I recovered for this purpose from the recent 2022 election. I painted over the old, stenciled in the new, saved $600 and I feel really good about them! You can contribute to my campaign by giving me permission to put one on your property, I promise to pick it up by 5/17!
