WATER CAPACITY ..Wake up !!!

Submitted By: cbbcalm@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Nehalem reservoirs are very low if not empty.
Some people who learned farming at Nehalem Trust are watering with the hose in full sun their yards .
this drives me nuts having experienced drought in norther California.
Have a bucket in the sink and collect grey water. It is a feel good thing to give this to your plants .
The lawns are awesome they will survive .
Look observe the plants flowers who are thriving without water..
Take a shower soak every other day.
Do it outside if possible
Show kids photos of real life where people and animals and plants have no water..
Feel deeply inside the fragility of this Water when turning on a faucet .

Friends of NCRD Need your Help

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Oh my, aren’t we all glad it has cooled off! Friends of North County Recreation District (NCRD) are still selling flowers and we need your help in a couple of ways. First would be we are running out of vases. If you or your group have some vases, we would love to have them. You can leave them either at the North County Recreation District in Nehalem or under the tables where we sell flowers next to the Deli in downtown Manzanita. Having them no larger than 3.5 inches at the base would earn you bonus points-and you thought no one was keeping track. Friends also need more help with flower arranging. Please come and help Friends raise funds for scholarships, programs, and projects. If you can help, please call, or text Gail, 503-830-3759 or gailmyoung@mac.com. Vases and Helpers are what we need. Sales have been going well and we thank those who are enjoying our flowers. Remember, sale days in downtown Manzanita-Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Sunday and Wednesday off. Thank you all!

River Community

Our weekly circle gathers at 6:00 p.m. We are grateful to be welcomed at St Catharine’s. We are always free and open to all. We gather to more deeply explore the possibilities of compassion and freedom. We meditate. We do a short collective reading from a book we have selected. We are currently working with the book When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron. We also create a space for sharing that is non-judgmental. Nothing is ever required. This is an eclectic group of persons exploring buddhist inspiration in a community, some would say a Sangha. You are most welcome to attend whatever your need or calling.

Misc. Trex deck boards

I have a few leftover Trex boards and my vehicle is too small to return these unused pieces:
1 – 1×5.5×20′ square dark gray (Clam Shell color)
3 – 1x6x12′ grooved striated gray (Foggy Wharf color)
1 large and 1 small container of deck screws (about 425 total)

Cost: $233 – all yours for $115

I have several off-cuts as well in both colors. You can have them for free.

Maybe you can use these pieces to make a nice weatherproof table top? A dog house? Wood shed? Planter box?

Text me if you’re interested.

Escape the heat and join us in the AIR CONDITIONED NCRD gym for the last latin dance social of the summer. Our August dance social at NCRD is on the 3rd Friday of the month. Why? Because that was the day the NCRD gym was available. So far this summer we have learned Salsa, Cha Cha, and Bachata. See you on Friday!

Theft in Neahkahnie

Submitted By: Jmurrayrep@aol.com – Click to email about this post
We own a vacation home in Neahkahnie. On August 4th our neighbor noticed a red pickup truck, Arizona license plate VKA 4LN in our driveway using the hose. When asked what he was doing he said waiting for friends renting the Airbnb. He was told our home was not a rental and advised to leave. We arrived on the 13th to find multiple items had been stolen from the outside of our home. We reported to the Deputy Sheriff. He shared that just within the last week the numbers of calls like mine had quadrupled. They will keep information in their system, but not much to be done. Be aware. And put valuables inside.
