The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Whitney Rutz of Portland helped her community fundraise over $52,000 for the Oregon Food Bank by creating and auctioning off giant cinnamon rolls on social media for healthcare.

Film 2: BEAST (Comedy) (2019) (First Time Director Award)
Director: Megan Ward Stevens, Portland
After her long-term boyfriend breaks up with her, Stephanie, approaching 40 with an aging uterus, decides to have a baby on her own.

Film 3: DINNER FOR TWO (Drama) (2022)
Director: Joe LoBianco, New York City
A charming young server calms the nerves of an anxious diner as he prepares for a special occasion. Sensing the diner needs support, the server becomes a willing accomplice in his quest to create the perfect dinner for two.

As the brutal Chicago winter draws near, three avid open water swimmers make a pact to continue training through the snow and ice. Their intense commitment becomes their salvation from pandemic lockdown and helps alleviate their personal struggles.

Neahkahnie High School Choir Members to Open for Garaj Mahal

Members of the NKN High School choir will be performing as the opener for the masterful jazz-funk-fusion quartet Garaj Mahal. The show begins at 4pm on Sunday, October 1st at the White Clover Grange Hall on Hwy 53.

Fareed Haque, guitarist for Garaj Mahal, has previously conducted music workshops sponsored by North Coast Music Project for the NKN music students.

Haque was born in Chicago in 1963. His father was from Pakistan, his mother was from Chile. When he was a child, Haque traveled with his parents all over the world, spending time in Spain, France, and Iran, in addition to Pakistan and Chile. In 1981 he was given a guitar scholarship from North Texas State University, where he studied jazz guitar. He left after a year and studied classical guitar at Northwestern University. At Northwestern, he joined Howard Levy’s jazz fusion group Chevere. Levy introduced him to Cuban saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera, who became a lifelong friend and mentor.

Full size, bed frame, and mattress. The headboard has bookshelves on each side of it. There are four drawers under the bed. Two on each side and they slide smooth. I am also throwing in a set or two of sheets.

Located in Bayside Gardens. I will have it taken apart and I’m hoping to just have it apart in three or four pieces.

(kids are welcome to dance for free)

Dance Etiquette/Tips:
•All are welcome – Family friendly events – Come as you are.
•Bring a water bottle and layers.
•Bring kindness and respect for yourself and others and your willingness to explore and to dive into the ecstasy of spirit available through movement.
•No outside shoes on the dance floor if possible (dirty floors aren’t fun to roll around on)
•Please no strong scents.
•We ask that you limit talking during the dance set. Set up, break time, and the foyer area are great places to have longer conversations to limit distractions for others.
•We are encouraging everyone to be mindful of each other’s safety and health and stay home if you are not feeling well, or have been exposed to someone sick. Follow your own judgment on whether to wear a mask or not.

An immersion into the fundamental principles of Ayurveda, the science of life. This class will focus on the 5-element theory, 3-doshas (vata, pitta and kapha) and their locations and expressions throughout the body. You will discover your unique physical/mental/emotional constitution. We will also look at how Ayurveda views food, colors, aromas, yoga and bodywork.

By integrating Ayurvedic practices into our lives, we can experience more joy, abundant energy, healthy digestion and peace in each moment.
