Sony Bookshelf Speakers – NEW IN BOX

Submitted By: elzbah@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
NEW Sony SSCS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)
$100 for the pair.
I ordered these because of the good reviews on sound for size & price, but when I finally got around to them (after the return window had closed), I discovered that my previous system had proprietary connectors that weren’t compatible with the usual kind, meaning I would need a new standard amplifier & subwoofer. So I never installed or used these.
They’ve been sitting under my dining table still in their box. Time for them to go.

100 watts
50000 Hz
Surround Sound (5.1.2 with Dolby Atmos support)
7 1/8″ x 13 1/4″ x 8 3/4″

Location: Sunset Beach Lane area, between Gearhart & Warrenton. Or meet up at Costco.

Contact: text 503 440 1580, text only, I don’t answer calls unless you’re in my address book.

Looking for a Rental

Submitted By: WCGrKids@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
We are a retired couple looking for a summer rental on the coast. We recently relocated to the area and are currently in a 9 month rental. Our time frame is mid-June through mid September, but we can be a little flexible on those dates.
We would be most interested in a minimum 2 bed, 2 bath that is pet friendly, as we have a 9 year old dog.
If you would be interested in renting 60-90 days, or can offer help or input, please contact us at WCGrKids@gmail.com .
Thank you.

Free goodies for Garage Gurus,

Submitted By: Rumblemailbox@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
I have two medium boxes of items for home improvement and do it yourself projects. Some tools, LOTS of unopened caulk, clamps, cans of paint, unused dusk masks, a little bit of everything a home improvement guru needs (no junk). These treasures were collected by my late husband and they are crying out for someone to put them to use. Both boxes are free, in the hopes that these materials will be passed along and shared with others. Please plan on taking a whole box to share with friends. If you want to know how to check this out, please email rumblemailbox@gmail.com for location in Manzanita. Thanks bbq!

I see both of our Senators, Merkley and Wyden, are holding town halls in our area soon. Obviously there will be lots of people at these. Only a few will be able to ask questions – they hand out a ticket to everyone who enters, then after an introduction they pick numbers at random to take questions.

Whether or not you get to ask your question, most of us have the same concerns and those town halls will be very informative. However, one subject that won’t come up is what the heck happened in the 2024 election. That’s old news and long settled for most of us. But I’m concerned we missed a key factor.

Trump controls the national narrative and the media by saying and doing atrocious things. One of those is slandering Biden. He put doubt in our minds about Biden’s abilities, so when Biden essentially collapsed in that debate due to exhaustion, over-taxed from his work schedule and a cold, we accepted Trump’s narrative as the reason he won the election.

I wanted more information so studied the election results state by state and compared 2024 to 2020. I found it was actually voter turnout efforts by Turning Point USA and others on the ground specifically in the swing states that returned Trump to office. Yes, Democratic voter turnout was well down, but only in states won by the same party both years. The difference was just the swing states, where Dem voter turnout was way up from 2020, but Republican turnout was up more.

If I’m right then the election was lost long before that disastrous debate. Here’s my point: it is still crucial for politicians to connect with their electorate. Mamdani, Spanberger, and Sherrill all won in 2025 elections and each made a point of actively listening to their electorate. The media likes to say it was a referendum on Republicans. Probably to some extent, but making sure voters feel important is, I think, essential. Town halls alone cannot do it. Focus groups only scratch the surface. Texting for donations with messages like “what can I say to get your support?” is empty and appears to be the extent of what Democratic Party organizations are doing.

Neahkahnie Spirit Dance – Thursday 5:30 – White Clover Grange

Submitted By: neahkahniespiritdance@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Dear community,

Join us this Thursday, for a dance centered on the theme RELEASE.

Our dance is a welcoming space to shake off anything that no longer serves you, and step into the new year a little lighter.

The music will follow a natural arc – creating room for movement, play, expression, and letting go. There’s no right way to dance and nothing to figure out, just an invitation to come as you are, move freely, and enjoy being in your body in community.

We’ll close the evening with a gentle sound healing – offering a moment to settle, integrate, and land together after the dance.

For anyone who’d like to continue the reset, the Starseed Sauna will be open shortly after dance as an optional offering – a warm, grounding way to cleanse the body and welcome what’s next.

Come dance, have fun, and move into the new year with renewed vigor.

Looking forward to sharing the floor with you.

Warmly,
Neil

Nehalem Bay Garden Club January 24th Meeting at new meeting place and time

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Calling all plant lovers!
Nehalem Bay Garden Club is changing its monthly meetings to the 4th Saturday at the White Clover Grange

Next meeting is
Jan 24 at 10am
White Clover Grange
36585 Hwy 53
Nehalem 97131
Enter at the front, right corner door

This month our guest speaker is Katja Biesanz. She is a Master Gardener who is coming to share her vast knowledge of botanical Latin which is used globally for the scientific naming and descriptions of plants. The international language provides plant identification, color or origin and helps us understand the plant’s features and characteristics. We hope you can join us for a new year of fun and learning!

The Nehalem Bay Garden Club will be 76 years young next spring! A very active group of 30 plus members is keeping this vibrant group going and the Club is always open to new members. Hopefully our new time will make the meetings available to more folks. So, if gardening is in your blood, or an interest that you would like to explore, please consider checking them out. No gardening experience is required, only an interest in learning, playing in dirt and hanging out with some pretty cool people!

The current mission of Nehalem Bay Garden Club is “To cultivate knowledge and love of gardening through educational programs and activities; to aid in the protection of the environment, native plants and wildlife; and to support public service through garden related organizations and volunteer opportunities.” The Club Objective from the 1978/79 yearbook was “To stimulate the knowledge and love for gardening, to aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds.” So the legacy continues.

Nehalem Bay Garden Club’s big project is an annual plant sale Mother’s Day weekend. The 2026 sale will be Saturday, May 9th at the same location as the past few years at the junction of N Fork Road and Highway 53 in Nehalem. Please save the date! Going back to old roots, the 2026 sale will only be on Saturday.

The months leading up to the sale, starting in late January are busy ones, mainly starting seeds and potting up plants. Since many hands make light work, anyone interested in helping is very welcome. The Club meets nearly every week getting hands dirty and laughing a lot as the work is done. Please email barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net if you would like to know more about these work/play parties or about the Garden Club.

Proceeds from the annual plant sale are given to local organizations that meet the mission of the Club. We have been donating to the community for over 20 years. Since 2020 alone the Club has awarded grants totaling nearly $18,000. Grant recipients include Alder Creek Farm, Food Roots, Hoffman Garden, Tillamook Early Learning Center, Wheeler Waterfront Park and Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy. During the pandemic we wanted to help with food security and included Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church for their Senior Lunches and Food Pantry and North County Food Bank.

The 1978/79 yearbook also had a Conservation Pledge.
“I give my
Pledge as an American to save
And Faithfully to defend from Waste the natural resources of
My Country – its Forests, Waters
And Wildlife.”

Words to live by today.
