What Does Conscious Aging Mean to You?
Join us for a conversation about what inspires you and helps you through your aging journey.
We will offer quotes from a number of sources and from wise people through the ages, as prompts for discussion. Discussing in small groups, we will explore what it means to age mindfully — maybe even with grace, humor and equanimity. Then we will gather to exchange ideas with the whole group. You are encouraged to share quotes, poems or words of wisdom that inspire you to stay awake to how your life is unfolding.
Your $5 donation at the door supports the Pine Grove Community House.

We Shall Be Free
By Garth Brooks
This ain’t comin’ from no prophet
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand
When the last child cries for a crust of bread,
When the last man dies for just words that he said,
When there’s shelter over the poorest head,
We shall be free.
When the last thing we notice is the color of the skin,
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within,
When the skies and the oceans are clean again,
Then we shall be free.
We shall be free, we shall be free.
Stand straight, walk proud,
Cause we shall be free.
When we’re free to love anyone we choose,
When this world’s big enough for all different views,
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew,
Then we shall be free.
We shall be free.
We shall be free
Have a little faith
Hold out
‘Cause we shall be free
And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there’s only one race and that’s mankind
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out
We shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith
We shall be free
There are other local groups who are guilty of these types lengthy posts as well.
I remember when I first started posting in BBQ, there was a limit to how many characters could be posted. As I had to revise/limit a few of them.
Is it possible to go back and resume the orginal limit? I will be suggesting this to the administrator as well.
A suggestion for those who want to post lengthy posts… possibly post a summary with a link or pdf added with all the meat and potatoes and desert to read and consume one course at a time.

Founded in 2002, LNCT holds over 300 acres in conservation with the help of skilled staff, an energetic board, and many dedicated volunteers. Shared values guide our three focus areas: conservation, community, and education. Our stewardship volunteers assist in the monitoring and restoration work of our properties. In addition to providing volunteers with nutritious food, our Community Garden program supplies fresh organic produce to families served by the North County Food Bank, Nehalem Bay Community Services and Nehalem Bay Health Center outreach programs. It is with great excitement we invite you to participate in our 27th Annual Chili Cookoff at the Upstairs Bar and Grill in Netarts. We have had the pleasure of hosting this event for 26 years as a benefit for Tillamook Hospice.
Tillamook Hospice provides a wide variety of invaluable home health and respite services to those in need, as well as support services to the families of Hospice clients. We are very proud to host this near and dear to our hearts annual benefit and look forward raising much needed funds for an incredible organization. Last year we raised $6,176 with our silent auction and chili cook off. This year our goal is $10,000. With your help we have a chance to meet or beat this goal!
Here is how you can help further our goal this year:
1. Please consider contributing an item to our Silent Auction. The item can be donated by an individual or a business. Some items that auction off very well (think bidding wars!) are; gift certificates, gift baskets, bottles of wine, charter trips, night stays at a vacation home, guided fishing trips, art, jewelry, hour massages, spa treatments, apparel, homemade items, baskets to create memories! etc.
The list is only as big as one’s imagination and willingness to donate.
2.Please mark your calendar now and plan to attend the auction on Saturday, March 21st. The event begins at 11am. Winners of the cook off will be announced at 4pm followed by winners of the auction. We encourage you to bring a friend and your checkbook!

United Paws provides ongoing support to Volunteer Fosters, providing all necessary supplies, and all needed veterinary care. Experienced Foster Mentors are available daily to assist Fosters with any questions, as well as educational help.
With limited Tillamook County animal resources available, the calls to United Paws for help are increasing, overwhelming at times, and we need more Foster Volunteers to help us provide safe and loving shelter for abandoned cats and kittens. Sadly, we can only help a fraction of the animals in need because we need more Foster Volunteers. If you are willing to temporarily open up your home to a cat(s) or kittens in need, please contact us at volunteer@unitedpaws.org or 503-842-5663 for more information.

Medicaid fraud is still here in Oregon but now it has a different face. Previously the medicaid fraud was allegedly done by our own state government. Maybe it still is for all I know, but if so, they are sharing now with gangs. – I get so angry when persons who have plenty still rob those who have little and really need help.
So here is a story of Oregon Medicaid Fraud:
BREAKING: Congress probes Oregon on “Uplifting Journey,” and other Medicaid Fraud.
The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce references Oregon Roundup in reporting on “Uplifting Journey”, asks Gov. Tina Kotek for information on efforts to combat Medicaid fraud.
A U.S. House committee with jurisdiction over Medicaid sent a letter Tuesday to Oregon Govornor Tina Kotek (D) and the Director for the Oregon Department of Human Services seeking information and documents regarding state efforts to combat fraud, including possible fraud by Uplifting Journey, the subject of extensive exclusive reporting by Oregon Roundup.
The letter, issued by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, refers to Oregon Roundup’s reporting on Uplifting Journey, which showed $2.3 million in Medicaid reimbursements to the company over the course of less than a year. During that time, two individuals living in the sober living house operated by the company in Lake Oswego were involved with kidnapping, torturing, robbing, and attempting to murder a Washington woman, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors allege the men were members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang.
