North County Resistance Protest Saturday, March 7, Nehalem, noon to 2 PM

Submitted By: pattyrinehart@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
Dear Friends,
Many of us know that America First is no longer at the top of the President’s Agenda.
We can thank the City of Manzanita for taking a stand this week, along with other cities in Tillamook County, against ICE in our communities. We thank the Manzanita Council for bringing this to a vote and also thank you to the people who attended the meeting.
People have questioned why North County Resistance has been out protesting every Saturday for over a year now. Kristi Noem is now out of her job. This realization gives us all a reason to go on with our Protests. We won’t give up. Accountability was never Noem’s headlights, but it is in ours. You know when I typed American Cabinet Secretaries into my search engine what came up were a bunch of wooden desks. Pretty funny!
In the United States Cabinet is the Department of Defense (DOD). Further reading says, “The Department of Defense (DOD) provides military forces to deter war, and to protect the security of the United States”.
“The Current head of the United States Department of Defense is Pete Hegseth, who serves as Secretary of Defense and is the top authority in the U.S. military chain of command under the president.”
This past week we have not “deterred war”. Further, neither Trump or Hegseth gave or are giving peace talks a chance. I leave you to go down the rabbit hole of Pete Hegseth’s background. I personally see Pete Hegseth’s smile quite like what you see on the bully on the school ground.
OK, now, since we are not giving up, we need your help. Bring another person with you to the North County Resistance Protest in Nehalem on Saturday, March 7th, from noon to 2 PM. And yes, dress for some wet weather. We will be collecting both people and animal food for the North County Food Bank and Nehalem Bay Community Services. Nehalem Bay Community Services also has a clothing bank and donations to that are greatly appreciated.
The NO KINGS3 event is scheduled for March 28. It will be held in Manzanita from noon to 2 PM. We still need volunteers for this event. If you can help please contact me either by email address or at the Protest in Nehalem on Saturday. We need 6 people to help with crossing at crosswalks, 5 people as safety marshals, and 3 more people for setup and teardown.
Also we are having an event on Sunday, March 15, which involves holding already made signs about fascism. More information about this will come out by this coming Sunday.
Thanks for reading, Patty

We Shall Be Free

By Garth Brooks

This ain’t comin’ from no prophet
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand

When the last child cries for a crust of bread,

When the last man dies for just words that he said,

When there’s shelter over the poorest head,

We shall be free.

When the last thing we notice is the color of the skin,

And the first thing we look for is the beauty within,

When the skies and the oceans are clean again,

Then we shall be free.

We shall be free, we shall be free.

Stand straight, walk proud,

Cause we shall be free.

When we’re free to love anyone we choose,

When this world’s big enough for all different views,

When we all can worship from our own kind of pew,

Then we shall be free.

We shall be free.

We shall be free
Have a little faith
Hold out
‘Cause we shall be free

And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there’s only one race and that’s mankind
Then we shall be free

We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out
We shall be free

We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith

We shall be free

BBQ as a Soapbox REPLY

Totally agree! I literally scroll through these types and lengthy posts. Those of us who read our posts on small screens (our phones), it’s actually torture. Thus, I’m willing to bet others agree.

There are other local groups who are guilty of these types lengthy posts as well.

I remember when I first started posting in BBQ, there was a limit to how many characters could be posted. As I had to revise/limit a few of them.

Is it possible to go back and resume the orginal limit? I will be suggesting this to the administrator as well.

A suggestion for those who want to post lengthy posts… possibly post a summary with a link or pdf added with all the meat and potatoes and desert to read and consume one course at a time.

Tillamook Hospice provides a wide variety of invaluable home health and respite services to those in need, as well as support services to the families of Hospice clients. We are very proud to host this near and dear to our hearts annual benefit and look forward raising much needed funds for an incredible organization. Here is how you can help further our goal this year:

Some items that auction off very well (think bidding wars!) are; gift certificates, gift baskets, bottles of wine, charter trips, night stays at a vacation home, guided fishing trips, art, jewelry, hour massages, spa treatments, apparel, homemade items, baskets to create memories! etc.
The list is only as big as one’s imagination and willingness to donate.

2.Please mark your calendar now and plan to attend the auction on Saturday, March 21st. The event begins at 11am. Winners of the cook off will be announced at 4pm followed by winners of the auction. We encourage you to bring a friend and your checkbook!

International Women’s Day Programming, March 8th

Submitted By: kat4house@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hi all,
XRAY FM will be hosting 12+ hours of original programming in honor of International Women’s Day. If you are in Manzanita, Nehalem, or Rockaway Beach, you can dial in at 91.7 FM — everyone else can stream live online at XRAY.FM.
Check out the schedule here (may be subject to change): xrayfm.wordpress.com/2026/02/24/amplify-women-2026/
If you are an older crowd, I am sure you are familiar with the Equal Rights Amendment. 80% of Americans according to polling think that the ERA is already part of our constitution due to it meeting all requirements of the amendment process, but it isn’t. If you paid attention, Biden in his last days “declared” the ERA valid, yet several court cases in the last year have shown that the ERA is still not recognized in the courts, despite it legally meeting all amendment requirements.
I highly recommend everyone to tune into the segment at 10 AM, March 8th, titled “Think Women Have Equal Rights, Think Again” to learn the fascinating 100+ year history of the ERA, the legal issues behind it, and a current upcoming case to argue the validity of it being the 28th amendment, all told by the women’s rights impact litigator who brought on the case and have led several against the White House in past years.
Even if you don’t think women have anything to worry about, I highly recommend listening to educate yourself about the history of women’s relationship under the law since the dawn of our nation. Very engaging discussion, don’t miss it!

United Paws Seeks Loving Foster Homes

Submitted By: Website@unitedpaws.org – Click to email about this post
United Paws always needs foster volunteers. This is how we have helped thousands of kittens and cats get a second chance. For more than 20 years, United Paws has depended on compassionate Volunteer Fosters who are willing to offer the security of their homes and the warmth of their love to animals who have been abandoned, lost, or born without a home. FOSTER HOMES SAVE LIVES!

United Paws provides ongoing support to Volunteer Fosters, providing all necessary supplies, and all needed veterinary care. Experienced Foster Mentors are available daily to assist Fosters with any questions, as well as educational help.

With limited Tillamook County animal resources available, the calls to United Paws for help are increasing, overwhelming at times, and we need more Foster Volunteers to help us provide safe and loving shelter for abandoned cats and kittens. Sadly, we can only help a fraction of the animals in need because we need more Foster Volunteers.  If you are willing to temporarily open up your home to a cat(s) or kittens in need, please contact us at volunteer@unitedpaws.org or 503-842-5663 for more information.

Medicaid Fraud in Oregon

Submitted By: dixiedarrow@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
About a year ago, or two, I sent documents to a senator in DC who- I thought would be the right person to send medicaid fraud info to – about medicaid fraud in Oregon. I heard nothing back but I didn’t expect to. I didn’t expect any response. However medicaid fraud across this country is so rampant – I really hoped that DOGE would investigate this, but instead the government- in the Big Beautiful Bill, cut medicaid by about a trillion dollars over ten years. Maybe they figured less money – less fraud!!

Medicaid fraud is still here in Oregon but now it has a different face. Previously the medicaid fraud was allegedly done by our own state government. Maybe it still is for all I know, but if so, they are sharing now with gangs. – I get so angry when persons who have plenty still rob those who have little and really need help.
So here is a story of Oregon Medicaid Fraud:

BREAKING: Congress probes Oregon on “Uplifting Journey,” and other Medicaid Fraud.
The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce references Oregon Roundup in reporting on “Uplifting Journey”, asks Gov. Tina Kotek for information on efforts to combat Medicaid fraud.

A U.S. House committee with jurisdiction over Medicaid sent a letter Tuesday to Oregon Govornor Tina Kotek (D) and the Director for the Oregon Department of Human Services seeking information and documents regarding state efforts to combat fraud, including possible fraud by Uplifting Journey, the subject of extensive exclusive reporting by Oregon Roundup.
The letter, issued by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, refers to Oregon Roundup’s reporting on Uplifting Journey, which showed $2.3 million in Medicaid reimbursements to the company over the course of less than a year. During that time, two individuals living in the sober living house operated by the company in Lake Oswego were involved with kidnapping, torturing, robbing, and attempting to murder a Washington woman, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors allege the men were members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang.

READ ALL ABOUT IT! OREGON GIVES 2.3 MILLION of Medicaid dollars, to a questionable program, without any oversight. Here is a link:
