FRIENDS OF NORTH COUNTY HAS STARTED THEIR DAHLIA TUBER SALE. THIS WEEKEND FRIENDS WILL HAVE TUBERS FOR SALE AT THE MANZANITA GROCERY AND DELI IN DOWNTOWN MANZANITA. Many of them have already started to grow. Get them before they are gone! Named tubers are $2 each and the mystery tubers are $1 each. All proceeds go to help programs provided by NCRD. Youth, Aquatic, and Fitness receive these dollars to make NCRD inclusive for all in our community. Thanks!

Sectional Sofa

My family loves this brown sectional couch, because it is very comfortable and long enough to nap on. But it is too big for my space.
It is 96 inches on the long side with the arm and 78 inches on the shorter side.
It has a couple of spots of minor damage (I usually have it covered with throws or blankets).
Comes apart into two sections, but you will need strong people to haul it.

Hey bbq. My name is Drew and I am a local video/tech geek.
VHS/8 mm tapes and photographs decay over time and are difficult to share with family and friends. Digitizing not only preserves these memories but allows them to be safely and easily shared.
Tapes are transferred to mp4 files and can be uploaded to social media and/or Cloud Storage Platforms. Due to new software the cost is now $13 per tape.
Photos are scanned in high def and transferred as jpg files which also can be uploaded. Cost is $2 each for quantities of 1-50. $1.50 each for quantities over 50.
Both video and image files can be sent directly to your computer.

This house is just getting completed from a total renovation from the foundation up. No one has lived in it, we invite you to be the first!

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with loft and storage the house has a wraparound deck on the front which is fully fenced along with a small back yard. In addition it has 1 off street parking space.

It is just a block off the prom.

SYMPHONY PRESENTS CONCERTS IN JUNE

The North Oregon Coast Symphony concludes its 2023-2024 season with two concerts in June. Titled “Poetic Palette”, this series offers a variety of classical pieces from multiple composers. Concerto for Clarinet, Viola and Orchestra by Max Bruch features two soloists, clarinetist Braden Payne (in his final performance with NOCS) and principal violist Betsey Ellerbroek. Other selections include Offenbach’s Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Berlioz’s Hungarian March, the symphonic poem In The Forest (Miske) by Ciurlionis, and Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia.

The first concert will take place on Saturday, June 8, at St. Catherine Episcopal Church (36335 N. Hwy 101, Nehalem, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm.

The second concert will be on Sunday, June 9, at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (588 16th St., Astoria, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm.

Admission for both concerts will be: $10 Adults, ages 18 and under FREE (children 12 and under with adult supervision).
Tickets will be available at the door only for the Nehalem concert.
Tickets for the Astoria concert will be sold online at LarsenCenter.org or by phone at 503 338 9132. Cookies and refreshments will be available at both concerts during intermission, and NOCS scholarships for graduating seniors will be announced.

This non-profit orchestra, under the direction of conductor Cory Pederson, brings together musicians from the north Oregon and south Washington coast to perform classical music for local audiences. For more information, please visit the the NOCS website nocsymphony.org.

Peggy Olorunsola and her sister MaryEllen are arriving in Portland by plane on Thursday May 30 at 11:30am. there is transportation from the airport to Hillsboro.

They would very much appreciate a ride around 1pm or later from Hillsboro to Manzanita. Is there anyone in BBQ-land who is driving from Portland to the coast that afternoon? They would be happy to pay for gas and for ride-share.

E. Lily Yu will discuss her novel On Fragile Waves, which received the 2022 Washington State Book Award for fiction and was praised by the New York Times Book Review as “devastating and perfect.” Critics have described her newly released short story collection Jewel Box as an inventive, boundary-breaking trove of fantastical treasures.

Yu received the Artist Trust LaSalle Storyteller Award in 2017, the Astounding Award for Best New Writer in 2012, was a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, Sturgeon and World Fantasy Awards.

This microwave works well. We have replaced it only because the little light that shines down onto stove will not turn off and customers complained. Took out the bulb and they compained as well.

Friends of North County Recreation District (NCRD) will start their annual dahlia tuber sale this weekend. There will be an outside space at the Manzanita Grocery & Deli in downtown Manzanita. On display will be twenty-eight kinds of named dahlias, with pictures for sale ($2 each) and several unknown tubers for sale ($1 each). You pay either by cash or check inside the Deli. Bamboo needed for planter troughs

We are looking to create a ‘Green Screen’ around a portion of the grounds at St Catherine. We want to thank those who have already contributed towards the troughs as well as the Arborvitae. This has allowed us to make good progress.

We still need donations or good sources of inexpensive bamboo. These will NOT go directly in the ground. They will be contained in planters.
