The interim between a US presidential election and the swearing in of a new Administration has for most of our history been a non-eventful period where the outgoing Administration winds down operations and the incoming Administration ramps up new personnel before the inauguration. Something about losing the popular and electoral vote has led Biden’s people to disregard the threat of WWIII and give the green light for attacks with US missiles deep into Russian territory. That means that American military officers are shooting American missiles into Russia – something unimaginable even in the depths of the cold war. The American people did not vote for an expansion of war, either in eastern Europe or the Middle East. A recent CBE News/YouGov poll has shown that a majority of Americans favor an end to all US military aid to Ukraine. Upending the card table just because you lose the game not only shows blatant disregard for the “democracy” his party constantly preached on the campaign trail, but by pouring gasoline on these two very dangerous conflicts as he heads for the door President Biden puts each and every one of us in grave danger. As a husband, father of two, owner of Wanda’s Cafe + Bakery, President of the Riverbend Players’ board of directors, and Vice-Chair of the Manzanita Planning Commission, Frank stays busy but always finds time for his passion—directing.

He’s thrilled to be directing his sixth production following the smash hit THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, which he directed last June.

Frank is the voice of Old Man Potter and various other characters and enjoys that he didn’t have to memorize any lines to be in this type of production (radio play).

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY transforms the beloved holiday classic into a 1940s radio broadcast.

Set in a live studio, actors portray the story of George Bailey, a man who, feeling his life has been meaningless, is shown by an angel what the world would be like without him.

With live sound effects and multiple characters, the play captures the heartwarming tale of family, friendship, and finding hope when needed most.

Nine performances only, December 6th – 22nd, at the NCRD Performing Arts Center in Nehalem.

Art in the Library features the painting of Amy Lachenmeier, at the Manzanita Library now through December.

Amy moved from Portland to Manzanita in 2022 with her cat, Brighton.  She frequented Manzanita and Nehalem Bay State Park since she was a teenager, and wanted to live on this beautiful coast for some time. After working outdoors in forestry and landscaping, Amy is now a Ranger Assistant at Nehalem Bay State Park. Nature and landscapes are her primary subjects to paint. She was an Art major at Oregon State University with a focus on fiber art and design.

North Tillamook County area Artists interested in showing their work on the library’s wall space are encouraged to contact Mary Kyle McCurdy at mkmccurdy7@gmail.com. This program is brought to you by North Tillamook Library Friends.

Mila began her acting journey three years ago with the Missoula Children’s Theatre, where she quickly discovered her love for the stage!

A student at Nehalem Elementary School, she lives with her parents, two older brothers, and two very mischievious cats who keep her entertained.

When not acting, Mila enjoys horseback riding, creating art, and playing outdoors with friends.

The Ladies at Nehalem Bay United Methodist Church invite you to add our Christmas Bazaar to your list of places to visit this coming Saturday the 7th. I see White Clover is hosting their winter sale the same day. What a great day to explore all the goodies that our little community has to offer.

The Bazaar starts at 10:00 with Clam Chowder and pie lunch serving from 11:00-2:00. You know the church has made chowder every year at this time since……well it’s been many years. I’ve been told it’s the best Chowder around and in my opinion it’s true.

So stop by and see what you can find for stocking stuffers, gifts, silent auction items, candy and baked goods. Something for everyone!!!!

Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy Update

For the week of: 12/02/2024

What to expect this week:
– Building slab formwork stripping.
– Level 1 wall framing.
– Site electrical trenching and conduit install.

Major milestones on the project:
– The building slab has been poured and finished.
– Domestic water and fire lines have been trenched from the utility vault to the building.

About the new Health Center and Pharmacy:
– The Health Center and Pharmacy project is being developed by the Nehalem Bay Health District. The District will own the facility and medical service will be provided by the local non-profit Nehalem Bay Health Center.
– The new Health Center will triple the size of the current facility (the former Rinehart Clinic) and have space to accommodate specialty services, including dental and x-ray.
– Substantial funding for the project has been provided by a local bond measure – thank you to the community – and generous contributions from among others 1st Security Bank of Washington, and the Roundhouse, Samuel S. Johnson, Ford Family and Autzen Foundations and the Jeffrey Kozlowski Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation.
