Our long haired, black kitty, Simon, has been missing since Sunday evening, Jan 26th. Last seen at home on Nehalem Road, north of Manzanita, south of the Neahkahnie area. Neighbors, please check your garages and sheds. Simon loves to explore, but he’s usually home in time for supper. Please send a note to alegra.lynne@gmail.com or text 503-380-4164 if you see Simon. His people miss him.

United Paws’ Kittens of the Week: Gabriel and Linus

United Paws’ Kittens of the Week: Gabriel and Linus

Meet Gabriel and Linus, the coolest cats at United Paws. These exceptionally loving and gentle brothers are Zen masters, demonstrating an exceptional ability to enjoy one day at a time. These two overcame adversity early in life to become happy, healthy kitties who now care for smaller foster friends who find themselves at UP.
Gabriel is an angel, soulful and strong-spirited. After receiving extra special care, he recovered from some health issues and became the love of his Foster Mama’s life. She said, “Gabriel’s will to live and thrive are inspirational.” Gabriel loves to be held and snuggled, and the minute you sit, he will be there to warm your lap.

Linus is a black and gray tabby with a gorgeous, ticked coat that makes him irresistible. Playtime is his specialty, and he seeks out toys to conquer and his brother to wrestle. When playtime is done, he soaks in pets, especially on his soft spotted belly. Linus loves lap time too, and is a pro at squeezing in with Gabriel to ensure a lap full of love.

Gabriel & Linus were surrendered to United Paws when very young, so they have had lots of tender loving care in a safe environment. This bonded pair is ready to bring lots of loving energy to a forever home.

You can learn more about these cuties, as well as other cats and kittens available for adoption, at unitedpaws.wordress.com, where you can also complete an application. If you would like to schedule a “Meet & Greet”, please email unitedpawsapps@gmail.com or call United Paws at 503-842-5663.

This first article is by a journalist in Australia, commenting on their MSN coverage of US confirmation hearings, specifically RFK Jr. for HHS. It’s always interesting to get another country’s take on things. The journo includes some charts representing dollars contributed to Senators by the pharma industry.

The Six Principles of Stupidity

Here’s a paywall-free link to David Brooks’ latest opinion piece in the NY Times that expands on a set of principles first compiled by Italian historian Carlo Cipolla in 1976 to explain what’s happening with the Trump administration currently and MAGA in general. Without being too accusatory toward the general populace, it has been a useful explainer (for me).

FREE Red Bonded Leather Sofa

Submitted By: buckuardo@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
The sofa is bonded leather, and structurally in excellent condition. The cushions are firm and comfortable, but not removable. Most of the bonded leather is in very good condition. Unfortunately, in areas where the material is squished frequently, some of the thin leather has separated from the underlying fabric. A sofa cover would probably be best, but we kept a throw blanket over the back when we did not have the sofa backed against a wall. Size is 82x36x36

Pick up in Pine Ridge (Manzanita). E-mail for more info.

Submitted By: candi.merrill@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hello All,
I did watercolor painting about 30 years ago and loved it but then life got busy and I put it aside. Now that I’m retired, I want to pick it up again but it seems I’ve forgotten everything I ever knew about watercolor. If there is anyone in the community that would be willing & able to give a few lessons to get me started again, please get in touch! Thank you.

KITES

Submitted By: salmonberrywheeler@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Got Kites in your attic, closet or barn that you purchased from DK Smith or John & Lisa Fraser at Once Upon A Breeze Kiteshop in Cannot Beach in the 1970s-1990s? Earlier? Maybe from that ashram or trip to Wiefang? Back before cell phones and social media? Seeking single line provenance: Hi-Flier, White Bird, Sun Oaks, Goodwin, Reza, Scholz, or Made in: Japan China, or India for reals. Not interested in: Premier, Prism, Kite Factory, Catch The Wind, or that big box store heartbreaker left behind in your short term vacation rental (no offense…) ~ Unless it really is a hot mess or lipstick on a pig. ~ Broken? “Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he’s got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.” I will repair, exhibit, and fly it. ~ Will trade for food and good will.
