Why volunteer?

Our market couldn’t run without the support of our amazing community of volunteers, who transform an empty field into a thriving marketplace. This year, our market will feature over 60 farmers, bakers, artisans, crafters, and musicians. As a volunteer, you’ll be supporting these small local businesses and ensuring the market runs smoothly and successfully.

The farmers market is by and for our community. We aim to:

Provide fresh, local produce directly to North Coast citizens.
Support our farmers, producers, and creators and enhance the local economy.
Grow community and create inclusive social gatherings

Join us Saturday, April 19 at 10 am for Tillamook County’s version of “Civic Saturdays” with Jim Heffernan hosting. The sermons explore new and better ways to be a citizen. They are aimed at developing “citizenship muscle. We will need “muscle” to bring power back to “We the People”, where it belongs. Each sermon functions as a stand-alone sermon. Don’t worry about missing earlier sessions.
This week’s sermon , number 13 of 19, is “Which Dream Do You Dream” and is 30 minutes long. Eric Liu talk about the insider and outsider dreams and will conclude with the question, “Who is us?” We can talk about the sermon afterwards, or not.

April is autism awareness month!

Submitted By: runnawaytrain1@gmx.com – Click to email about this post
In the 1960s, 1 in 10,000 kids had autism. Today, it’s 1 in 30!!!!!!!!! Re-read as necessary. This is sad as hell and needs to stop.

Lucky for America, America’s number one defender of children who is also America’s top environmental lawyer, RFK, JR., is going to help America get these autism rates waaaaaaaay down. HELL YES!! That alone would be more good for America than the entire Biden admin did in four years! (He is also working to ge cell phones out of skools!!!!!!!! Yay!)

And the Democrats and their autism-causing funder$ at Big Farma have ramped up the lies and propaganda against RFK, JR.

Who should we believe, an article from an unnamed reporter at CBS ‘news’ or America’s TOP ENVIRONMENTAL LAWYER?

The unnamed reporter is OUTRIGHT LYING:

“Kennedy, a longtime vaccine critic who has pushed a discredited theory that routine childhood shots cause the developmental disability, said the effort will be completed by September and involve hundreds of scientists. He shared the plans with President Trump during a televised Cabinet meeting.”

This theory to explain the explosion of childhood autism in American HAS NOT BEEN DISCREDITED. I am going with Kennedy, NOT CBS, on this one.

Also from the unnamed CBS ‘reporter’ (likely AI-written, programmed to smear RFK, JR.)

“Autism is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. It presents with a wide range of symptoms that can include delays in language, learning, and social or emotional skills.
There’s scientific consensus that childhood vaccines don’t cause autism.”

This another HUGE LIE from CBS: there is NOT scientific consensus that vaccines don’t cause autism!!!! NOT AT ALL! In fact the opposite is true!

I’m going with America’s top environmental lawyer on this one, too. Here is the entire ‘article’ (aka propaganda hit piece) curated for the Big Farma advertisers who fund CBS ‘news’:

www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/rfk-jr-cause-of-autism-research/?intcid=CNR-01-0623

Too bad Democrats can’t handle the truths posed by RFK. Jr, because if they hadn’t done the bidding of Big Farma (smear him) and had instead taken him into their fold, Dems might be in the White House right now. Truly shameful in my view. That party is currently as corrupt and off-base as any in American history.

And just how did America’s top environmental lawyer from America’s top Democrat family end up in a Republican administration? What a coup from Musk’s techno/medical billionaire friends to get ya’ll Dems to turn against the bravest fighter for children and the environment in America! Fear, especially as part of medial tyranny, is powerful, and I say unfounded fear generated by Big Farma played a huge role in Dems dumping RFK, Jr., and Musk using him as a smokescreen for Musk’s evil sh*t.

(Hey Dems, Musk is the SAME as he was when the rich among ya’ll we’re going goo-goo over his ‘save the polar bear’ Teslas, when he was developing Neurolink, when he was lying about going to Mars, etc. Nothing has changed with this man, except he now conveniently hangs with Trump instead of Biden. And for that I say, MAGA beware of Musk.)

Our own senator Wyden was THE WORST ON RFK Jr. and knowingly smeared him and LIED during confirmation hearings on behalf of Big Farma and his banker masters. Here is what anti-American anti-Oregonian Wyden does: pushes autism causing vaccines on children, masks children at skool, bombs children in Gaza on behalf of Israel and his banker masters, and lies and lies and lies about it all. And now Oregon’s anti-child senators are pretending to care about unaccompanied minors trafficked over OUR AMERICAN BORDER by Mexican dog cartels!!!!!! THE SAME BORDER THESE TWO FAKER ANTI-AMERICAN SENATORS DELIBERATELY LEFT OPEN FOR FOUR YEARS!!!!!!!!!! THEY LET DRUG CARTELS TRAFFIC MINORS OVER OUR BORDER!!! And now they are pretending to care about it! Too late for so many kids, shame on these Senators. How many of these kids were stopped at the infamous ‘rape tree’? Our senators are truly shameful men.

“PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon’s U.S. senators are stepping up support for unaccompanied migrant children who cross into the United States without parents or guardians.” What a couple of absolute fraudsters!

Wyden and Merkeley are the ones who should be deported!

Wheeler

Earth Day Community Meeting-Protecting Drinking Water

Submitted By: rockawaycitizen.water@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Join North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection on Earth Day for our April Community Meeting where two important topics will be discussed:
1.Nedonna Beach- Protecting Wetlands & Drinking Water in Nedonna Beach
Neighbors and community members are actively working to protect the remaining freshwater, forested, and shrub wetlands in the Nedonna Beach neighborhood. The City of Rockaway Beach recently approved a new 28-house development in an area of Nedonna Beach that is designated as “wetlands” by both federal and county agencies.
We invite you to take part in a meaningful community conversation about safeguarding the Nedonna wetlands from further development. This is a chance to explore how we can come together to build a strong, local grassroots movement for lasting protection of this unique natural area.
We’re excited to welcome a special guest- a retired EPA health official- who will share insights from his career in environmental protection.
Your voice matters. We want to hear your ideas, your concerns, and how you might like to get involved. Let’s collaborate to ensure the Nedonna wetlands remain a thriving, protected space for generations to come.

2.Nehalem Watershed- Nehalem Must Stop Logging in Its Watershed
The Nehalem watershed was clear-cut by a logging company and then transferred to the city, possibly in the 1940s. In the 1980s, seeking new sources of income, the city began the practice of logging the watershed in stages, with the aim of generating revenue over time. Now, nearly 40 years later, only the steepest slopes remain untouched, with the majority of the area having been logged. This year marks the end of the city’s 25-year contract with a timber management firm. A speaker will address the ongoing issues, present the goals of a local conservation group, and explore alternative options the city could pursue. Additionally, the speaker will discuss how the community can get involved in protecting the watershed’s future.

Tuesday, April 22nd. 6pm-7:30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm for mingling. St Mary by the Sea Parish Hall 257 S Pacific St Rockaway Beach, Or.
Free Pizza!!

NCCWP wants no more logging and pesticide use in community water sources across all land ownership, and wants an end to pesticide applications near where people live, work and recreate. Safe drinking water and clean air are part of the public trust that we all are entitled to have. Please help North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection safeguard and restore our drinking watersheds. www.healthywatershed.org | www.facebook.com/NCCWATERSHEDPROTECTION Contact: rockawaycitizen.water@gmail.com

Unique storage caddy. Sheet metal and glass

Submitted By: Artwithmisskaren@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
At the tail end of getting my studio together. I can’t find a useful place for this cool sheet metal and glass caddy. My lat studio I used to for gloves, stirrups, stir sticks, sharpies and so fort. Things I needed regular access to. Unique piece but the only two places it would fit in my studio is blocking much needed outlets or blocking the only window. So maybe you can use this in your studio, sewing room, kitchen, garden shed for seeds or shop.
I pulled the receipt from the antique store and I paid $145 originally. I’d be happy with $75

I’m not sure what the Internet would call it so I couldn’t find anything like it. It’s pretty heavy duty.

Dimensions are = 24” wide x 7.5” deep x 20 1/4” tall.

I’m in cannon beach’s north end if you’re interested. Shoot me a note.

Coastal Community Creatives Meets this Thursday!

Submitted By: cindy.obtd@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Hello Creatives!

This week we’ll plan to learn to crochet in a round as well as starting some crochet projects! The projects I have in mind will be included below with the needed materials, but please feel free to bring any pattern/idea and we can find where you should start.

1. Double thick hot pads. Can be any color, but must be at least a skein of cotton yarn for this project (it takes 1.5 for a pair). I’d recommend a G or H hook.

2. Hats (in rows or in a round). Can be any weight if yarn from DK/3 to Bulky/5, you just need a hook that corresponds to that yarn weight (probably F/G for weight 3, H/I for weight 4, and J/K for weight 5).

3. Granny Squares. This can be any size of yarn, but as you will need multiple colors, try to keep your yarn all the same weight/material (ex. All acrylic worsted/weight 4). For the granny square pattern I have in mind, you will need at least 2 and up to 4 colors.

4. Rugs/bags. This can be any size yarn, but must be cotton or acrylic. For a thicker project, use 2 strands, T-shirt yarn (I can demonstrate how to make this), or even rope/Paracord. If using anything other than standard yarn, I would recommend a very large hook (about size Q). I

I will have a few balls/skeins of worsted/weight 4 acrylic yarn anyone can use if they need something to start with! Excited to see you there!

Don’t forget to bring a few cans of food for the Food Bank and a few dollars for the Grange Maintenance Fund if you can.

A sad moment for our local Anti-vax Patriarch: RFK Jr (putative Secretary of Health an Human Services) has officially announced that “The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine.” No response has been forthcoming from the Patriarch’s office as to whether Kennedy’s name will be placed on his List of War Pigs.

Of course, Sec. Kennedy didn’t come to this conclusion before quite a few kids checked into the ER with Vitamin A poisoning when they followed Kennedy’s previous recommendation to consume lots of cod liver oil.

OK, enough snideness! The outbreak is still happening and looking at where the large majority of cases have occurred, there’s much to be learned. Gaines County, Texas is on the far west high plains of the state and mainly known for extracting fossil fuels from the Permian Basin and irrigation water from the Ogallala Aquifer. The county of 22,000 is 82% vaccinated (95% is ideal for measles) and is home to large congregations of Anabaptist Mennonites who, while not theologically opposed to vaccination, seem in this case to be the focus for the outbreak along with plenty of people who no longer trust vaccines of any type.

So folks who meet congregately on a regular basis should be especially wary of the possibility that this highly contagious and serious disease is spreading farther afield.
