PETTY FEVER Tom Petty Tribute band Nov 8th at NCRD

Meet at 11:30AM at the South Neahkahnie Trailhead* for a walk down LNCT’s Headwater’s trail to our stewardship benches. Paper bag your lunch and enjoy a midday break outside with friends. The walk is ~2.5 miles round trip, with a gentle incline.
Note—the Headwaters trail is uneven and mildly steep in some areas. To access the Headwaters Trail, we will meet at the Neahkahnie Mountain South Trailhead parking lot and walk down from there. Plan to wear shoes with a decent tread and dress for the weather.
*To reach the South Neahkahnie Trailhead, drive north on highway 101 from Manzanita about 2 miles. Between mileposts 41 and 41, turn right on road 38555. Keep to the right up the dirt road until you reach a small parking lot and signage, about 1/2 mile.

This in-person event is the perfect way to unwind after a long day and enjoy the natural beauty of the Oregon coast. We are excited to have Marine Biologist and Photographer Jim Young as our volunteer guide. Jim will lead the walk and provide information about interesting beach finds, bay ecology, and more along the way. Additionally, if you plan to bring your camera, hoping to capture a beautiful sunset, Jim will be happy to share some basic tips to help you take that memorable shot.
What to bring:
Comfortable walking shoes
Reusable water bottle
Snacks, if desired
Binoculars are highly encouraged. We will have a few pairs available to borrow and share.
The climate can change quickly along the coast, ranging from warm to cool and breezy, so please bring the gear you need to stay comfortable.

Take a blank mannequin torso, a table full of reclaimed materials, and your imagination; and turn it into a one-of-a-kind narrative sculpture. This workshop invites you to decorate, collage, and transform a salvaged mannequin, layering memory, meaning, and personal reflection. Our goal will be to use discards to spark stories about who we are, where we’ve been, and what worlds we can imagine.
Over four hours, you’ll be guided through a simple but powerful structure:
Framing the Why – We’ll begin with prompts and reflection on the role of discarded materials. What stories emerge when we build from what’s been set aside? If this mannequin could speak, what would it say about the world it comes from? Could these fragments become a personal story, a cultural memory, or a fantasy of what might be? Is this figure armor, adornment, dream, or warning?
The Build – You’ll collage, layer, and transform your mannequin with discarded fabric, sheet music, corks, buttons, wire, broken jewelry, and other salvaged materials. Facilitators will circulate with questions to help you explore: Are you rebuilding a self from rubble? Mapping a body out of memory? Giving form to a future being?
The Circle – We’ll close by sharing the figures and their stories: what they carry, what they reveal, and what surprised you along the way.
Expect costumes, shields, altars, or ghosts, or something that doesn’t yet have a name.
All materials provided.
No experience necessary—curiosity is the only skill you need.
Participants will have the option to feature and sell their finished work in a community pop-up exhibit at HeartWorks Studio following the workshop (dates TBD).
Torsos are limited!

She looks like a wolf. She is a malamute husky mix and very sweet, not dangerous. She is very timid with people and may be reluctant to come near if you try to approach her quickly. If you make yourself seem small and kind she may come closer. She is playful outside and nervous inside.
If anyone has seen her whereabouts, please reach out and inform me.
My phone number is (206)805-9998
My moms is 206-954-8945
She is my mom’s dog, and ran away on my watch. We are really hoping to find her soon. Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for keeping an eye out.

Actually, this looks to me like a Drumf-marketing nothing-burger.
The Portland ICE (The agency used to be called INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service), but Dubya/Cheney/CIA changed the name to the scary/sexy ICE!!!!!!) detention facility is small and has been around and underutilized or a long time. It is on MaCadam Ave, next to a Tesla dealership. You can’t make this up. I drove by in the cab a few days ago, nothing at all was going on, and my Portland passenger didn’t even know that is where the facility was located.
So yeah, nothing-burger from Drumf.
If ICE (shivers………..!!!!!!!!) does a bunch of provocative stuff with Drumf’s CIA, maybe ‘protesters’ will show up again.
If they do, I promise I will drive my taxi down there and wave and smile to the ICE agents AND the protestors, BLASTING the song linked below!!!!!!! Because if you’re not having fun, what’s the point??? And just like Charlie Kirk who was realizing we are all one, and just like Malcom who was realizing that we are all one, I will attempt to bridge the divide!
Me…..and Vanilla Ice. Baby.
