Join us this Sunday at 8pm at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church in Nehalem for a weekly candlelight vigil mourning those who have died in ICE custody.
This week we honor a man named Lianyong Wei who died at age 51, just one day after entering ICE custody. Lianyong was from China and he died just two weeks ago, on August 23, while in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Lianyong was found unresponsive during morning checks and transported to the Commonwealth Health Care Corporation Emergency Room where he passed away. His official cause of his death remains under investigation. He is the fifth Chinese National to die in ICE custody since the beginning of last year.
Bring a candle and join us at the entrance to the church at 8pm and we will process with candles out to the roadside at Hwy 101.
