Join Us-Saturday, September 12, noon to 2 PM in Nehalem
The North County Protest in Nehalem this past Saturday hosted over 40 protesters. A good group of people with lots to say about our current national government. We were joined by a woman who was handing out preaddressed postcards for us to send in a mass mailing requesting Donald Trump be removed from office. If you would like to help with this project, please let me know and I will get you some postcards. You just need to put the postage on them and take them to the Post Office. Everything we do now, protesting, writing letters, mailing postcards, registering others to vote, and voting is going to make a difference in many people’s lives.
Often questioned about why we are doing this, the people taking part in the North County Protest can’t imagine doing anything else. At this point in time, we are still able to protest. Many people can remember a time when if you protested in Germany, Hitler would have you killed. Do I think this will happen in the U.S.A.? Well in this past year I didn’t think a lot of things would happen, but they did.
Next protest is this coming Saturday, September 12, in Nehalem, from noon to 2 PM. Bring your umbrella, come when you can and stay as long as you can.

YOU VOTE, YOU RULE
The following message is from our friends at No Kings IV:
Voting is critical to claiming our power. Voting early, where available, gives everyday people the power to make our voices heard on our own terms. When we lock in our votes early, we secure our baseline strength, ensure our communities aren’t silenced, and build the solid foundation needed to defend ballots across the country.
Election protection is front and center. Our work doesn’t end when a ballot is cast. We want events on October 17 to also provide direct on-ramps to recruit, train, and organize local community members to get involved with local nonpartisan election protection efforts.
There is flexibility with your hyperlocal events. Events that focus on early voting and election protection are critical, and there is great flexibility with what that looks like. Local events should focus on local needs.
Oregon Voter Registration Card (you can get online)-copy off as many of these cards as you like and give them to people who are not registered to vote. They will need to send them to the Courthouse in Tillamook. Address is on back of form.
Vote.org is a nonpartisan voter engagement organization. Door to door, business to business-if you can’t do it, have your kids or grandkids sign people up. Perhaps a good project for schools as it is nonpartisan?
Topic 3: November 3 is Election Day. I’ve read that ballots will be mailed out on September 14, please correct me if this is wrong. And I’ve also read to take your ballot to a ballot drop box-don’t mail it.
NEXT TO VOTING, THIS IS THE BIGGEST TOPIC: No Kings IV or No Kings 4 will be held across the country on October 17th. The message for this event is to “VOTE EARLY”! There will be a few changes made from the previous event to the upcoming event (and we will have much more information out). The biggest change to this event, which will again be in Manzanita, is that it will take place from 4-6 PM. Again, we will be in touch as the date grows closer.
