Help Us Build the Salmonberry Trail—One Step at a Time
Have a few hours to give? Come help build a trail that will become part of our community’s future.
Something special is taking shape along the old railroad corridor between Wheeler and Tillamook. The Salmonberry Trail is coming to life—and our community has an important role to play.
But trails don’t build themselves.
They are built by people who care.

Come Be Part of It
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help transform an overgrown railroad corridor into a beautiful, welcoming trail for residents and visitors to enjoy.
You don’t have to be an experienced trail builder. You don’t have to commit to every work party. And you certainly don’t have to be an expert.
If you can give a few hours, we can use your help.
Volunteer activities may include:
-Removing invasive plants such as Himalayan blackberry and Scotch broom
-Clearing vegetation and helping open up the trail corridor
-Planting and caring for native plants
-Mulching and helping establish restored areas
-Walking the trail and identifying areas that need attention
-Documenting our progress with photographs
-Helping organize future volunteer work parties

There is a job for almost everyone.
When: Every Monday Sept & Oct 10-1
Third Saturday each month 10-1

A Trail With a Story
The Salmonberry Trail follows the historic route of the old Tillamook railroad—a corridor that once connected communities and carried people and goods through some of the most spectacular scenery on the Oregon Coast.
Today, we have the opportunity to give this historic route a new life.
The vision isn’t simply to create a path from one place to another.
It is to create a trail that connects people with nature, history, recreation and our communities.
And we can help shape what that trail looks like.
Restore. Replant. Renew.
One of our goals is to restore portions of the corridor with native plants that belong here.
That means removing invasive species that have taken over and giving native trees, shrubs, ferns and flowering plants an opportunity to return.
Imagine walking the trail several years from now and knowing:
“I helped make this happen.”
Maybe you pulled the first blackberry. Maybe you planted a sword fern. Maybe you hauled mulch. Maybe you simply showed up with a pair of gloves and a willingness to help.
Every contribution matters.
No Long-Term Commitment Required
We know everyone is busy.
That’s why we’re creating opportunities for people to participate when they can.
One Saturday. Two hours. A morning with your neighbors. One Monday morning. Get the week started with a positive action!
Whatever you can give is valuable.
Bring a friend. Bring your family. Meet your neighbors. Get some fresh air and exercise while doing something positive for our community.
And don’t worry if you don’t know anyone yet.
You’ll know someone by the end of the day.
This Is Our Trail
The Salmonberry Trail is a big project with a long history and an even bigger vision.
But the success of the trail will ultimately be measured in something much simpler:
People using it. People enjoying it. And people caring enough to help make it better.
This is an opportunity for all of us to leave a little something behind—not just footprints, but a healthier landscape and a trail that future generations can enjoy.
Ready to Get Your Boots Dirty?
We’re building a volunteer community now, and we’d love to have you join us.
Whether you have a green thumb, a strong back, a camera, a chainsaw certification, a few spare hours—or simply enthusiasm—we have a place for you.
Come help us clear the way for the Salmonberry Trail.
Come plant something that will outlast us.
Come be part of the story.
Volunteer. Restore. Connect.
The trail is waiting.
And it starts with us.
