North County Resistance

Dear Friends,

Thank you to the 50 people who showed up for this past week’s protest in Nehalem. I think the biggest crowd of the summer, and we were certainly glad to have you all. It was a beautiful day with the sun peeking out now and then, not too hot. There is a good chance we will have the same weather this coming weekend.

With the elections coming up situations are getting somewhat heated. It is a good thing Trump has his advisors around him so they can remind him of what he said yesterday or last week. It’s not always clear that he does. I don’t think it’s a bad idea that we on the local level start to formulate a plan. We have our House and Senate member from each state we can contact. Please tell them we need to start impeachment processes on all levels of government. Let’s all start writing some letters and do it now!

I talked with several people this past Saturday at the Protest. They all acknowledged Trump is surrounding himself by enough people that the wall is pretty hard to punch through. But punch through we must. Trump has stepped on a lot of toes. From our local food banks to the Secretary of the Navy and everybody in-between we need to start writing to our Congress and House and tell them we’ve had enough. This is our country and we’ve got to drop everything else we’re doing for a few weeks and concentrate and getting some changes made.

Where do we start? County level? State level? If you have access to online addresses got to these folks. Also, for sure, go to Ron Wyden, Jeff Merkley, and Suzanne Bonanimici. Oh, and I’ll bet we can write the President too! Please don’t give up!

See you this coming Saturday, August 29, in Nehalem from noon to 2 PM. And please don’t forget our people going hungry:

Nehalem Bay Community Services and Nehalem Bay Senior Meals, PO Box 232, Nehalem, Oregon, 97131
Rockaway Beach Meals for Seniors, PO Box 852, Rockaway Beach, Oregon 97136
North County Food Bank, PO Box 162, Wheeler, Oregon 97147

All the above serve people who need food help in North Tillamook County. A monthly donation to them.

Thanks,
Patty Rinehart
