It looks like perfect weather for the farmers market this week, and we have a full roster of vendors lined up!  It’s nearly summer solstice, and every week there’s more to choose from at the market.  Moon River is swimming in peas, Fulton Farms told me they’ll have apricots this week, and A&B’s cherries are going strong.

In addition to local produce, hot food, and baked goods, we have lots of value added foods!  Have you tried Condea’s Farm Big Leaf Maple Syrup, made from native maples in the Clatskanie forest?  They’ll be selling that along with fresh kettle corn this week!  Picnic Eats is another new vendor selling sizzling hot sauces and irresistable chili crunch made right here in Wheeler. GeeBee’s Kitchen makes “Sunday Gravy”, a slow cooked tomato sauce that packs a flavor punch.  Try it over ManJa Creations fresh pasta, she even has excellent gluten free options!  Bloom and Dye has a big selection of pickles, krauts, jams, and relishes, grown on their farm in Newberg.

Looking for something sweeter?  Longtime market favorite Gingifer’s Kitchen brings amazing jams of all flavors, made with primarily local produce.  High Peak Granola has unique and delicious flavor combinations and lots of crunch.  Enjoy a hot cup of Murrelet Herb Farm’s Tea, grown and processed here in Nehalem, or better yet make it iced for a refresher this hot weekend!

Music this week is by Jason Okamoto, a stellar guitarist playing bossa nova, flamenco, gypsy jazz, and more.  See you Friday from 4-7 at Underhill Plaza, behind city hall!
