The duties of the water master are paid at a rate of $40 per hour. You choose to do the duties on your own schedule whenever you are available, and it is a great opportunity for a side gig to supplement your income.
The duties focus on system monitoring, maintenance coordination, and emergency response. Key responsibilities include:
Source Water Monitoring: Regularly inspect the creek, particularly after heavy rainfall, to ensure the well intake remains clear and unobstructed.
Pumphouse Operations Checks: Conduct routine checks of the pumphouse equipment to confirm everything is functional and free of visible issues.
Maintenance Assistance: Assist personnel, such as Kristin McLaughlin and Fire Mountain School staff, with tasks like chlorine addition and water filter replacement at the pumphouse if needed.
Emergency On-Call Support: Be available on-call to identify and report emergency water issues (e.g., fallen trees on pipes, system failures). The primary duty is identification and coordination of a qualified repair person, not necessarily performing the repair yourself, though repair work is compensated separately if you choose to do it yourself.
