Join us Saturday, October 18 at 10 am for Tillamook County’s version of “Civic Saturdays” with Jim Heffernan hosting. The sermons explore new and better ways to be a citizen. They are aimed at developing “citizenship muscle. We will need “muscle” to bring power back to “We the People”, where it belongs. Each sermon functions as a stand-alone sermon. Don’t worry about missing earlier sessions.
This week’s sermon , number 16 of 19, is “A Test of Our Citizenship” and is 32 minutes long. Eric Liu talks about the three hardest questions on the citizenship exam naturalized citizens must take. They are “What is the Constitution for?”., “What is the “rule of law” ?”, and “What is the promise you make when you become a citizen? ” I think this sermon is the best of all 19 sermons. We can talk about the sermon afterwards, or not. We can exercise our citizenship by attending one of the “No More Kings” gatherings that will happen at noon Saturday the 18th of October.
Sermon was first given on May 5, 2018, but, sadly, little has changed in the last seven years.
