100% In favor of Salmonberry Trail — The Salmonberry Trail will offer an incredible benefit to all of us and safe recreation route for all types of visitors and residents alike, walking, running, biking, ADA, or scootering. There are so many multi age users, that it will serve.
Opening a safe pathway from the Rockaway Beach wayside north past NHS and connecting Nedonna with access is a benefit we can’t completely measure yet. But the value in the rails to trails within other cities across the United States is astounding. It encourages healthy exercise and family activities, commuting and alternative transportation. It’s also about safety for commuting to the city center or to school from town.
My family has been riding the streets and gravel roads around Rockaway Beach for 20 years. To have a safe pathway (off 101) to the north end of our 7 mile beach is something we have dreamt of for years, not to mention all the way to Wheeler. Tillamook county has a gem just waiting to be uncovered and released for all to enjoy.
Rails TO trails, opening up, would further connect our neighboring towns. It would be very beneficial to tourism and commerce for all the communities – everyday all year long. The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad is a wonderful tourist attraction. North of Rockaway Beach, it has structural limitations for the passenger train and a very limited schedule. I am 100% in favor of allowing that section of the track to be converted to use as a way that would serve all ages and abilities every day of the year.
Rails TO Trails is our best option north of the wayside in Rockaway Beach!
