Getting to Know You

The mission of Conscious Aging and Community Connections is to strengthen our community by helping each of us live our very best lives. Our recent programs have addressed a wide variety of serious and challenging topics around aging and end of life… from writing wills and advanced directives to fraud prevention, support for caregivers, fall prevention, and “what to say to someone who is dying”. These are serious and important topics.

However, we recognize that one of our most valuable offerings is not at all serious…. It’s just plain fun. You have told us that you enjoy our “getting to know you” sessions and asked for more….and it has been well documented that people who have strong community support live longer and happier lives. So, in the interest of community building, we try to sprinkle FUN in with the more serious topics.

We invite you to join us for our next “Getting to Know You” event on Monday, August 11th, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Pine Grove. The goal is simply to get to know each other and have fun!

Oh wait, there’s homework!!!

· On a small piece of paper, very briefly write an activity or skill at which you excel and that enhances your self-esteem (e.g., “I bake excellent berry pies”). Fold for privacy and bring to the session.
· On another piece of paper, briefly note something unusual, or surprising about yourself, (quirky and amusing is a plus…and preferably something no one knows, or would guess) Fold for privacy and bring to the session.

Conscious Aging and Community Connections is a sponsored program of Pine Grove Community House. A suggested donation of $5 at the door supports facility upkeep and cleaning costs.
