Saturday a large crowd gathered to welcome the opening of the new Manzanita City Hall and Police Station. There was sunshine, excited chatter, great cookies and art-making courtesy of the Hoffman Center.
Introductory remarks were made, then the ceremonial ribbon was cut and the crowd got to wander the halls of the two new buildings–construction is simple, elegant and efficient. The walls of the front office are lined with old fir reclaimed from the former school, and the light fixtures in the front lobby are also from the school.
Our Police now have a state of the art station, evidence room, etc. The City Hall has a small conference room, offices and a spacious large meeting room where we can attend larger gatherings like City Council meetings.
Kudos to everyone who helped bring this 30+year dream into a gracious reality!
