Dear Folks,

Thanks once again for showing up in Nehalem last week. The PROTEST was a good one, lots of thumbs up and horns honking. We look for the same thing this Saturday, July 5, in Manzanita. We will be PROTESTING from noon to 2 pm. In anticipation of having more people join us for this PROTEST we will have people stationed throughout the crowd with orange vests on. If for any reason you have a problem, please locate one of these people and they will help you out. If for any reason you have someone harassing you, please turn around and walk away and find a person with an orange vest on. If an orange vested person sees you are doing something dangerous, they will call you out and please listen to them. Because this is going to be a busy weekend, and because Highway 101 is a very busy route, we will be asking two things of you.

1. DO NOT CROSS HIGHWAY 101 TO THE EAST SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. DO NOT CROSS THE HIGHWAY TO TAKE PICTURES. DO NOT CROSS THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE DOES. JUST DO NOT CROSS THE HIGHWAY. BY DOING SO YOU PUT YOURSELF AND OTHERS IN DANGER.

2. TO CROSS THE HIGHWAY NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY 101 AND LANEDA AVENUE, BY MANZANITA LUMBER, WE WILL HAVE AN ORANGE VESTED PERSON THERE WITH A FLAG TO HELP YOU CROSS. PLEASE LISTEN TO THEM AND CROSS WHEN THEY ARE READY. WE ASK YOU NOT TO CROSS AT THIS LOCATION BETWEEN NOON AND 2 pm WITHOUT THE CROSSWALK WALKER-THEY WILL HAVE A FLAG.

Our North County Food Bank (NCFB) needs your help. They need someone to go to bat for them to get the money they were promised to build a new food bank. They must be out of their location in Wheeler in October and have no place to go. Yes, we need someone with big pockets to stand up. If you can’t stand up, maybe you know someone who can. Checks can be sent to the NCFB, PO Box 162, Wheeler, Oregon, 97141. We will be raising money for the NCFB on this coming Saturday at the protest. We will have some flags for sale. The 4×6″cotton flags are on sale for $2.00 and we have a dozen of the 12×18″ which are $8.00. Please bring exact change. First come first serve on the flags. If we sell all the flags, we expect to make $384. Yes, a drop in the bucket, but a start. If you want to pay more, please do. All money will go to our NCFB. And please bring some food. We are looking for canned or boxed foods to give to the food bank. Cereals, canned meats, tomatoes, snacks for kids, whatever you can give is appreciated. Pleased stay tuned into the Food Bank so we can keep our community healthy. We are most thankful for your help with our Food Bank. We will have boxes for all the food you bring.

Will there be counter protesters there? Perhaps. We don’t know. We are protesting and they are protesting. What WE don’t want to do is engage them-just turn around and WALK AWAY. Yes, we are a peaceful protest and do not want any confrontations. Find that person in the orange vest and buddy up with them. If you have any problems being at this PROTEST, bring a buddy and stick together. Tie yourselves together if you feel comfortable doing that. I must say I personally feel “intimidated” going to a protest-once I am there, I am fine. I am not I anymore, it is we. I am focused on wanting us to rid ourselves of President Trump. I am mad about the January 6th rioters who were released. I am mad about the Republicans giving President Trump a green light. You know about the green lights that are cutting off our citizens from government programs. Without these programs many will suffer and/or die. And on and on it goes. I am sure each of you has something you might lose.

Bring your water, your sunscreen, dress in layers, if you have a sign bring it, bring your neighbors, email this to 25 of your friends.

Have a safe 4th of July!

Let us keep this event peaceful and productive. The following is from the group Invisible:
