Local Author, Don Bell, just published his second book. A collection of 24 short stories based on true events. The Title of the new book is, “Travis Nelson”. It is an aventure story about riding the rails of freight trains, being a Wilderness Ranger, and Horse/Mule Packer in the Wind River Range, in a Wyoming National Forest. He also was a real cowboy saving a just born calf in a spring snow storm. Finally his role as a Smokejumper having bear attack problems in the Alaskan Wilderness. Bell’s first Book was a journal of a deck hand on the Yukon River.
It is a cultural visit about delivering cargo & supplies to remote Indian and Eskimoe villages and fish camps in the still wild Northland; a place with no roads, but plenty of fish wheels and high adventure. The first book is called “Barge Notes”. Both books available on Amazon.com for $11.95. You can buy them locally at Joe’s Deli in Rockaway. Sort of cool to get to know a real Jack London type living here on the coast.
