NTLF Art in the Library Series is exhibiting abstract paintings by Nehalem Artist Lauren Oujiri for the month of January. Using nontoxic acrylics on recycled canvases for this display, Lauren decided to work with only five colors (without mixing them to make more), and enjoyed and learned from this challenge. She calls these contemplative pieces, invitations to let your mind wander, with some ocean and night/early morning influences.
Lauren is also a photographer and poet. She says, “living as an artist is an important way to express what I’m of, see, feel, and appreciate. Art invited me into a portal to make sense of the world and myself, to see the world (and myself) differently, and to bring beauty and meaning to our community, a place that thrives when art is abundant – and, gratefully, Tillamook County is abundant with art and artists for sure!”
Please stop by the Manzanita Library in January to see Lauren’s artworks. Art in the Library series is sponsored by the North Tillamook Library Friends.
