NCR is often asked: What are we protesting? Here’s a clearer explanation of the issues we’re standing against—each one represents a significant threat to our democracy:
Manipulating Electoral Maps: Redrawing voting districts to favor specific political outcomes undermines fair representation for all citizens.
Rolling Back Civil Rights: Efforts to weaken protections for marginalized groups erode the fundamental liberties that form the foundation of our democracy.
Mass Deportations: Forcing large numbers of individuals and families to leave their homes tears apart communities and disregards basic human rights.
Slashing Health Care: Reducing access to essential health services puts vulnerable populations at risk and increases inequality.
Slashing Education: Cutting funding for public education limits opportunities for young people and jeopardizes our shared future.
Intimidation of Dissent: Threatening or silencing those who disagree stifles free speech and open debate, which are vital to a healthy society.
Billionaires vs. the People: Policies favoring the ultra-wealthy over the needs of ordinary citizens deepen social and economic divides.
Our next protest will take place in Nehalem on Saturday, from noon to 2 pm. Everyone is welcome—your voice and presence make a difference!
We continue to have the means to transport food or monetary donations to the North County Food Bank. Be as generous as you can. If you would like to donate food or funds, please contact us at or bring items to our next event. Together, we can make a tangible impact in our community.
Thanks,
Patty
